The Volkswagen Group has selected the Vredestein Wintrac Pro high-performance winter tyre as original equipment for its Tiguan SUV in Europe. Apollo Tyres Ltd will supply the Wintrac Pro in size 215/65 R17 99H for fitment on Tiguan models manufactured in Wolfsburg, Germany. To further support Volkswagen customers throughout the ownership cycle, Wintrac Pro tyres will be available on the replacement market.
According to a survey commissioned by Apollo Tyres Ltd, 65 per cent of motorists in the UK would now consider all-season tyres as their next replacement set. The result of this OnePoll survey of 1,000 UK respondents reflects the continued growing popularity of tyres designed to perform well in conditions encountered throughout the entire year, including dry, wet and snow.

Apollo Tyres has launched the Vredestein Wintrac Pro+. The manufacturer says the dedicated premium winter tyre is suitable for ultra-high performance cars, SUVs, and the latest generation of performance-focused electric vehicles. Comparing the tyre to its Wintrac Pro predecessor, Vredestein has added an advanced new tread compound that helps deliver improved standards of grip, traction and braking performance on snow, slush and ice, as well as a reduction in rolling resistance for improved fuel efficiency / enhanced driving range. It also retains the Wintrac Pro’s superior wet grip rating and segment-leading durability.
Apollo Tyres has recruited three-time Formula 1 race winner Giancarlo Fisichella as the new ambassador for its Vredestein passenger car tyre brand. This two-year agreement will involve Fisichella in the testing and development of new Vredestein high-performance tyres, appearances at key events, and participation in both online and offline Vredestein brand communications.
A new survey commissioned by Apollo Tyres suggests that driving enthusiasts now value ride comfort almost as much as performance when buying replacement tyres. When asked which characteristics they would prioritise when buying a replacement tyre, 34 per cent of respondents who claim to “love” or “like” driving cite ‘high-performance grip and traction’ as priority, while 23 per cent mention ‘ride refinement and low noise’.
Astra, the Iveco Group’s construction and mining equipment division, has chosen Apollo Tyres’ EnduTrax as the original equipment tyre for its heavy-duty off-road truck range. This selection, effective from April 2024, is the second partnership between Apollo Tyres and the Iveco Group.

Apollo Tyres has launched a new 385/55 R22.5 variant of its “most fuel-efficient truck trailer product,” the Apollo EnduMile LHT long-haul trailer (LHT) tyre. Now available across Europe, the 385/55 R22.5 tyre complements the launch range EnduMile LHT size 385/65 R22.5, which Apollo Tyres debuted last October.
According to a survey commissioned by Apollo Tyres, almost two-thirds of electric vehicle (EV) owners in the UK would prefer to purchase replacement tyres that have been developed specifically for use on this type of vehicle. A poll of 1,000 motorists showed that 64 per cent of EV drivers said they would favour EV-specific replacement tyres, compared to just one per cent who say they would be unlikely to choose these.
Apollo Tyres has appointed Alexander Mai as Cluster Manager for its European Two Wheel Tyre division. Mai will succeed Thomas Mittendorff, who steps down at the end of January to take a position outside the company. Mai takes responsibility for a business that currently offers Vredestein bicycle tyres in Europe and is expected to introduce a range of Vredestein-branded tyres for motorcycles and mopeds in the not-too-distant future.
A survey commissioned by Apollo Tyres has found that only six per cent of motorists in the UK are able to correctly identify a tyre’s load rating. Worse still, it turns out we’re only half as good at accomplishing this task as the Germans are. Thankfully, younger Brits give hope that this may change in future.
