Trelleborg Tires will introduce its first agriculture rubber track, the ART1000, at the EIMA 2024 exhibition, which will take place in Bologna, Italy from 6 to 10 November. Alongside this launch, Trelleborg will showcase a wide range of products and services designed to meet the evolving needs of modern farming.
Paolo Pompei will assume the role of President and CEO of Nokian Tyres plc on 1 January 2025, confirms the company’s Board of Directors. He succeeds Jukka Moisio, who will retire from the tyre maker at the end of 2024.
Yokohama TWS has appointed Elio Bartoli as its new company president, effective 1 December. Elio Bartoli succeeds Paolo Pompei, who is stepping down to become president and CEO at Nokian Tyres. Company representatives thanked Pompei for his ”impressive tenure” with the company.
Trelleborg Tires was the official partner of the fifth edition of the Tractor de España Award 2024. The annual event, organised by the magazine Agrotécnica recognises the most advanced, efficient, and sustainable tractor models in the market. The awards, which promote excellence, innovation, and sustainability in agricultural machinery, took place on 27 September at the Superior Technical School of Agronomic, Food and Biosystems Engineering (ETSIAAB) of the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Trelleborg Tires has supported the event since its first edition.

Trelleborg Tires partnered with Southwest Tyres to exhibit at the Shaftesbury & Gillingham Show held on 14-15 August at the Turnpike Showground in Motcombe, Dorset. According to those involved, the event provided a valuable platform to engage with the agricultural community and showcase the Trelleborg TH500 telehandler tyre. Specialists from Trelleborg Tires and Southwest Tyres provided personalised consultations to numerous farmers, offering expert advice on tyre selection and maintenance.
Roughly a year since our last interview, which focused on how Trelleborg Wheels Systems had been operating since the company’s acquisition by Yokohama, Tyres & Accessories visited the company’s Tivoli, Italy headquarters in order to meet up with Yokohama TWS chief executive Paolo Pompei and to find out more about what has happened in the first year of post-integration business. In the days following our visit, we learnt that Yokohama had agreed to buy Goodyear OTR and that Paolo Pompei has accepted the top job at Nokian Tyres – both headline-grabbing stories that make the timing of our interview all the more prescient. Specifically, Pompei’s description of how the various Yokohama off-highway businesses (ATG, TWS and Aichi – all of which were, of course acquisitions themselves) operate both semi-autonomously and together potentially provides an insight into how the newly-acquired Goodyear OTR operation may be integrated into the Yokohama stable.
Yokohama TWS North America has received the “Global Above & Beyond” award for its excellent customer service at the Hyster-Yale Global Suppliers Conference, in recognition of the support its team has provided to Hyster-Yale Materials Handling (HYMH). The award goes to the supplier that has “most demonstrated a willingness to do whatever it takes to surpass expectations, going above and beyond standard supplier relationships.”
North America’s agricultural tyre market was valued at over US$930 million last year but is projected to reach $1.3 billion by 2030, Trelleborg Tires tells us. The tyre maker has maintained a production presence in this, the world’s largest agricultural market, since 2015. It has now announced a significant capacity increase at the 40,000 square metre Spartanburg, South Carolina plant.
By 1 January 2025 at the latest, Paolo Pompei will conclude his current remit with Yokohama TWS and take on the role of President and Chief Executive Officer at Nokian Tyres. Jukka Moisio will continue in this capacity until Pompei starts in the position.

Yokohama-ATG (Y-ATG) has announced a new partnership in the UK OE2 agricultural tyre market for its Alliance brand. Alongside Kirkby Tyres, which has served as a strategic partner to Alliance for nearly 70 years, and recent newcomer TIA Agri, Wheel Solutions is coming on board as an Alliance partner in the local market.
Trelleborg Tires has outlined a growth plan for Brazil, including an aim to increase market share by leveraging its presence at over 300 John Deere dealerships. A new partnership, formalised during Agrishow 2024, commences this month and allows Brazilian farmers to access Trelleborg’s portfolio of over 700 products through John Deere’s after-sales network. This collaboration builds on the existing global partnership between the two companies at a regional level.
