Point-S has selected Autogem Motor Concepts as a supply partner to its UK network. Writing in a letter to members, company representatives explained that Autogem offers “a number of solutions to the Point-S network through [its] well established and competitive consumables programme”. In short this means, but is by no means limited to, the delivery of TPMS repair and service equipment and products.
Snap-on Tools has appointed Mark Houston as its new Warrington branch manager. In his new role Mark Houston will be responsible for the successful management of Snap-on’s 75 franchisees in an area which extends from Carlisle to South of Birmingham and includes North Wales. He will be supported by a back-up team of 5 Field managers.
Snap-on Tools has added CTEU 7850 ½” cordless impact wrench to its range. According to the company, it is a direct replacement for Snap-on’s CTU 6850 cordless impact gun ‘family’ which has sold more than 50,000 units in the UK since its launch 10 years ago.

Now two of its technicians at the Berwick upon Tweed and Blyth franchises have completed the Level 3 ATA Diagnostic assessment – the first in the network to achieve this level, regulated by the Institute of Motor Industry. Paul Dugid of HiQ Berwick upon Tweed and John Parker of HiQ Blyth are now registered as diagnostic technicians through the programme.
Hofmann has added a second iteration of its popular Fusion tyre changer and wheel balancer machines to its line-up. The launch of the Monty Fusion 2 tyre changer, and the Geodyna Fusion 2 digital wheel balancer is heralded by a Spring Collection promotion, running until 31 May, which allows garages to buy both machines for £3,999 (excluding VAT). European tyre manufacturing association ETRMA has launched a new website. The new site, etrma.org, is intended to be a “go-to point” for all of those interested in knowing more about tyres and rubber goods and the regulatory environment that surrounds these products. Not only is this website a repository of information available to all, but also a gateway to interact with the association and its members. Furthermore, it is one of ETRMA’s tools to promote the interests of an industry that is key to the EU, both in terms of job and wealth creation and in terms of provision of goods that grant mobility, safety and quality materials for EU citizens.
Wheel alignment equipment specialist, Pro-Align has made DCM Tyres in Shaftesbury its first ‘Alignment Centre of the Month’ winner for January 2012. The Hunter distributer says DCM has enjoyed a considerable month on month increase in turnover and profit generated from its HawkEye HD imaging aligner, installed five months ago when the Shaftesbury site opened. The retailer reports income of £4,000 from the machine in January alone.

Snap-on has released the latest software for its best selling family of hand-held diagnostic tools. According to the company, version 11.4 provides nearly 20 per cent more vehicle coverage than the previous software release introduced earlier this year including coverage of the manufacturer SMART.

Cam Systems has entered into a preferred partnership agreement with Leeds-based software provider panintelligence to offer its customers the opportunity to integrate state-of-the-art dashboard tools into the new wholesale, retail or commercial application platforms developed by the software provider based upon Microsoft’s SQL Server. The new offering will enable business owners to view and monitor the status of their operations at a glance from one central console to enhance their sales profitability, reduce their costs and operational risks and ultimately, to take quick, corrective action if required.
Snap-on Tools has announced the appointment of Lisa Law as its new UK franchise manager. In her new role Law will be responsible for growing and improving the quality of the Snap-on network of franchisees in the UK. She will also be responsible for regulatory and compliance issues with regard to the existing successful Snap-on Tools business format, which has seen them as previous winners of the BFA Franchisor of the Year Award sponsored by The Daily Express and HSBC Bank.
