Russia’s Baltika Breweries, a member of the Carlsberg Group, is the largest player in the country’s beer market and holds a 36.8 per cent market share. The company operates eleven breweries and a number of maltings and distribution centres across Russia, and operates a sizable fleet of forklift trucks in these facilities. Starco reports that Baltika has adopted its Starco-brand Tusker forklift tyre as standard across this fleet fleet.
The extremely wet British winter has had a devastating impact on the state of roads across the UK, a report by the Annual Local Authority Road Maintenance (ALARM) has revealed. Motor Wheel Service Distribution’s (MWSD) commercial vehicle wheel safety campaign has been successfully incorporated in the new European Union (EU) Roadworthiness Package, which will become law in May 2014. The new law, adopted by both the European Parliament and European Council, states: “compatibility between parts and components, such as between wheels and wheel hubs, should be treated as a critical safety item and should be checked during roadworthiness testing.”
Speedline Truck has reported a further advance in its OE sales drive alongside developments in its aftermarket marketing strategy.
In mid-March Speedline truck announced that it has been chosen by its ongoing industrial partner Daimler as exclusive partner for equipping the weight-optimised Arocs Loader cement mixer with its lightweight forged wheels.
At this year’s Mid-America Trucking Show, Alcoa has rolled out what it claims is the world’s lightest heavy-duty truck wheel. The new 40-pound (18.1 kilogramme) wheel is 47 per cent lighter than steel wheels of the same size and five pounds (2.3 kilogrammes) lighter than Alcoa’s previous lightest heavy-duty truck wheel. This weight was able to be shed in the Ultra ONE through the use of a new, patent-pending alloy, MagnaForce. Alcoa says this is on average 17 per cent stronger than is 6061 alloy, the industry standard. The Ultra ONE is available in size 22.5×8.25 inches for heavy-duty, commercial transportation, and is being readied in all OEM customer data books.
Swedish distributor Däck Partner has named Starco Sweden as one of its top three “Suppliers of the Year.” The company says this recognition from Däck Partner is “a welcome acknowledgement of the achievement of Starco Sweden, proving that the presence of a special wheel and tyre company in the Swedish market is worthwhile.”

These include the megaline Ssence 3D Wheel Aligner, the latest generation alignment system, which uses 3D ‘Camera and Target’ technology. The Ssence is fast and easy to operate, thanks to software designed to make life as easy for the operator as possible by minimising unnecessary procedures. The system is available in two versions, the economically-priced 400, or the ultra-advanced 600, with 32-inch display and automatic camera bar.
Leading wheelmaker Uniwheels Group reports that it managed to both increase revenues 5.8 per cent and stabilise the company’s overall business in full-year 2013 results published today (24 March 2014). According to the company, the business’s growth came largely thanks to the “very positive” development of the firm’s Automotive Division, which focuses on supplying the OEM business and grew 12 per cent in 2013. In addition, the successful implementation of cost-cutting measures in the administration of the business is also said to have had a positive impact.
Thailand-based Stamford Sport Wheels (SSW) launched a new ‘euro technik’ alloy wheel line in 2013, which is exclusively manufactured for use in Europe. According to the company, SSW will be taking “a very active role at next month’s Reifen 2014” in Essen, Germany where the company will be displaying its euro technik range prominently on the Stamford Tyres stand.

Alcoa, the global leader in forged aluminium wheel technology, has announced plan to invest US$13 million expanding its wheel manufacturing plant in Europe. According to the company, this means doubling production of its increasing popular lightweight, durable, low-maintenance aluminium truck wheels. Work is expected to be completed by early 2015
Wheelwright, the UK’s largest wheel importer and wholesaler, has released details of a new concave addition to their 2014 collection: the Calibre CC-S. The 2014 programme features the brand new split five-spoke CC-S. According to the company, this style comes as a result of responding to “the dramatic increase in demand for deep concave styles”. Designed to retain “an air of OEM sophistication”, the precision engineered CC-S boasts a contemporary matte black/polished finish which accentuates the concave effect of the five spokes as they reach from the centre to the rim edge.
Yokohama HPT Ltd, the UK distributor of TSW and Victor Equipment wheels announced that the two wheels brands have added nine new wheel styles. All are available in the UK now.
