As the UK prepares for the long winter months; the heating goes on and the woolly jumpers come out of hibernation, it is equally as important to make sure your car is prepared for the change in season too, as a harsh winter is the number one cause of accelerated wheel and tyre wear and tear.
Alloy wheel protection system AlloyGator has launched an extra-large alloy wheel protector. Designed to fit wheels between 12 and 24 inches in diameter, the new size profile was officially launched at the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas in response to the rapid global growth of the SUV and Crossover market.
AlloyGator has launched a new wheel care kit, which it says will offer an extra income generation opportunity to complement AlloyGator fitting services. The kit has been developed alongside car care firm Angelwax. It is designed to remove baked on brake dust, dirt and road salt, while safely cleaning AlloyGator’s nylon wheel protectors.
US-based wheel and automotive componentry manufacturer Accuride Corporation now belongs to funds managed by private equity firm Crestview Partners. The merger agreement, which was unanimously approved by Accuride’s board of directors in early September, was adopted by company shareholders at a meeting on 15 November.
The range of dual wheel solutions offered by STARCO is expanding to cover complete wheel solutions in addition to the components that were previously available. The company says this extension of its dual wheel portfolio will benefit customers by facilitating improved lead times and simplifying the supply chain. The quality of the solutions it offers, adds STARCO, are original equipment standard and use the same e-coat and powder topcoat technology found on products supplied to OEMs.
Motor Wheel Service Distribution (MWSD) has restructured its senior management in preparation for future growth. The changes follow the launch of MWSD’s German division and the impending implementation of the EU Roadworthiness Act. Company founder and owner John Ellis becomes chief executive and Matthew Mardle, who joined the business earlier this year as operations director, takes the title of chief operating officer. Kevin Ryan maintains the specialist product development and client advisor role as chief technical officer, and Clive Maudsley is now chief financial officer. Michael Payton maintains his position as marketing director.
DriveRightData, the wheel and tyre data provider, has established a new testing facility based in Fullerton, Los Angeles, which opened in July. According to DriveRight, the majority of the world’s wheel production is shipped via LA, meaning the establishment of a testing facility close to the port is an “ideal location”.
