Alloy and steel wheel distributor Wheelwright has extended its Calibre T-Sport alloy wheel range. Already popular for Ford Transit and Transit Custom fitments, the wheel is now available for the smaller Ford Transit Connect.
MWheels and wheel manufacturing giant Wheels India (WIL) have signed a new five-year exclusive European distribution agreement for Xlite and Xbrite forged aluminium wheels. The contract continues a relationship that started in the 1940s with classic car wire wheels, and which progressed into steel commercial vehicle wheels in the 1980s and forged aluminium CV wheels in 2010.
Michelin believes it has helped reinvent the wheel. At the IAA motor show in Frankfurt, Germany, the tyre maker is presenting a new solution together with Maxion Wheels, a product the two companies believe will help eliminate road-based damage to tyres and rims.
MWheels’ white paper, ‘Evaluating commercial vehicle wheel safety – how to keep safe and stay compliant’, has been downloaded more than 100 times. The wheel distributor states that UK original equipment manufacturers, commercial vehicle fleet operators and senior personnel from armed forces, construction, emergency services and legal firms have taken the opportunity to learn more about wheel safety ahead of full implementation of the EU Roadworthiness Act on May 20, 2018.

MWheels has appointed Mike Cornwell to the newly created post of European supply chain manager, following a three-month senior consultancy role. The wheel distributor, formerly known as Motor Wheel Service Distribution (MWSD), states that Cornwell has already introduced “a market-leading sales and operations planning process along with a structured sales forecasting methodology” and “will further develop integrated systems with service partners and suppliers to improve distribution efficiency” for MWheels’ full commercial wheel range.
Under a long-term aftermarket arrangement with Volvo Car Corporation, German tyre wholesaler Reifen Gundlach GmbH will supply complete wheel units fitted with winter tyres within the Central European and Nordic markets. The Pon Holding company will begin shipping the wheels in January 2018.
Wheel distributor Wheelwright, whose alloy wheel portfolio includes UK brands Calibre & DRC, alongside German owned AEZ, Dotz & Dezent and Italian designs from Mak, have continued to develop their extensive product portfolio with the addition of the RoadHero space saver wheel & tyre kit for a wide range of vehicles.
GKN Wheels & Structures has developed a brand-new wheel for its Profi-line+ range, with this new product designed specifically to suit the new Nokian CT tyres which were introduced to the market earlier this year.
Featuring a double well radius, new flange design and a wider bead, the wheel design has been optimised to meet the very specific requirements of the new heavy duty, high load-bearing CT tyres from Nokian.
Accuride Corporation has entered into an agreement to buy Mefro Wheels GmbH. Headquartered in Solingen, Germany, Mefro Wheels is a privately-owned supplier of steel wheels to the European and Asian passenger car, light vehicle and commercial vehicle industries and maintains manufacturing operations in Germany, France, Turkey, Russia and China.
With the recruitment of a new layer of management completed over the last 12 months, Manchester based commercial wheel supplier Motor Wheel Service Distribution (MWSD), best known as the distributor of Xlite and Xlite+ forged aluminium wheels, signalled its intention to raise its profile and to convey an impression of the additional expertise now offered by the company. The most immediately obvious sign of this is the company’s new corporate identity – arriving at its headquarters in Sharston, South Manchester, past visitors to the company will notice the new MWheels logo.
In addition to its tyre business, Kirkby Tyres’ ISO 9002 compliant services also include the supply of commercial wheels. The Speke-based wholesaler supplies the brands Jantsa, Pronar, Mefro, GKN, Protector, Alpro, Maxion, and Accuride, with more than 24,000 wheels currently in stock.
Developed in late-‘70s motorsport, the Ronal R10 Turbo alloy’s simple, flat-faced design is approaching its 40th birthday. The wheel is currently available in a selection of attractive finishes and fitments, including a ball polished surface targeting performance sectors.
Speedline has announced a 20 inch version of its SL7 Gladiatore alloy for large saloons, four-wheel drives and luxury SUVs. The wheel has a striking graded design devised to call to mind a Roman gladiator’s round shield.
