The g-Force

BFGoodrich’s award winning g-Force profiler has proved unstoppable at this year’s FIA World Rally Championship. BFGoodrich has swept the board winning every round in every country so far, but you have to remember the company supplies tyres to five out of the six teams in the event. Either way, the WRC demands a broad spectrum of tyre types and, as such, BFGoodrich has produced variations of the g-Force Profiler, capable of taking on every type of terrain encountered. With the mass of the car rarely distributed evenly on all four wheels at the same time, the battle is to control the tyre pressure.

Coats Introduces Next Generation of Tyre Changers

With wheels and tyres rapidly getting bigger, heavier and tougher, tyre service is becoming more challenging than it has ever been – and choosing the right equipment is critical. At the SEMA Show 2006, Hennessy Industries unveiled the Coats APX90 tyre as its way of solving today’s tyre changing challenges.

New wheels, both aftermarket and OE, are increasingly large and unwieldy and require delicate care. In addition, mounting and demounting low-profile, high-performance and a variety of run-flat designs can be challenging. According to company representatives, “no matter what kind of assembly, the Coats APX90 was designed to handle any job quickly,” with protection for customers’ wheels in mind.

SEMA Show 2006: CTNA, Giovanna Extend Partnership

(Las Vegas/Tire Review) Continental Tire North America said it will continue its unique joint marketing partnership with Wholesale Tire and Wheel Corp. (WTW), marketer of the Giovanna wheel brand. The joint marketing deal was announced at last year’s SEMA Show, and saw the launch of two Continental-produced Giovanna edition tyres. This year’s SEMA Show will see the addition of nine performance and two light truck/SUV tyres to the collection.

Pirelli “Super Single” For Light Trucks At SEMA

Many in the US tyre business were expecting Pirelli to come to SEMA 2006 with a 32″ Scorpion Zero tyre, following its success with the 30″ version first shown at the New York Auto Show this year. Not so, as Pirelli decided to think more laterally (in every sense of the word). What Pirelli has brought to this year’s SEMA show in a world “first” is a 405/25R24 Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico, a trend setting idea for a ‘Super Single’ tyre for light trucks.

Mercedes-Benz World appoints Pirelli ‘Supplier of Excellence’

Mercedes-Benz World, the new multi-million pound brand centre being built at the historic Brooklands racing circuit in Weybridge, Surrey, has awarded Pirelli Limited “Supplier of Excellence” status. Pirelli will supply its state-of-the-art high performance tyres for the Mercedes vehicles used on the track activities and within Mercedes Benz World.

Rimstock’s Matt Neal Wins BTCC Again

Matt Neal and the family-run Team Dynamics team have won the BTCC series for the second year on the trot. While the result is worthy of recognition in its own right, it is also good news for the wheel manufacturing business (Rimstock Plc) he helps run in Birmingham. And now, according to reports, the racing team are already making preparations to complete an historic hat-trick of touring car titles in 2007.

Efficiency Award For Alcoa’s Hungary Operation

Alcoa has announced that its Alcoa-Köfém operation located in Szekesfehervar, Hungary was ranked as the “Most Efficient Company” by major business weekly Figyelö of the 200 largest corporations in the country based on ratios of Ebitda (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) to invested capital, a financial indicator. The award is based on 2005 figures.

Alcoa Wheels Keep Action Cancer Big Bus Rolling

Alcoa Wheel Products has a policy of contributing to the communities in which it operates and a good example is the company’s support of Action Cancer, Northern Ireland’s leading cancer charity, with the donation of a set of Alcoa Dura-Bright wheels. The charity recently made a substantial investment in a new high tech “state of the art” purpose built vehicle called Big Bus. This mobile unit was constructed by Browns Coach Works in Northern Ireland and is pulled by a new Volvo FH 400, the first Euro 5 in Europe. This unit was supported by Volvo GB and supplied by Volvo’s Northern Ireland dealer Dennison Commercials. Alcoa’s donation of Dura-Bright wheels will help keep the Big Bus looking good and easy to clean.

Yokohama Adds Model-Specific Wheels To Range
