Wheel distributor Wheelwright has released details of a new addition to the premium AEZ range. The latest wheel from the German-Austrian brand is called the Bridge and uses a range of subtle OEM styling cues to create a tasteful and understated design.
The classic motorcycle market is growing and interest in bikes from the 1980s is strong, and therefore Continental considers now an opportune time to reintroduce two former patterns, the TKV11 front and TKV12 rear sports tyres. The pair are suited for mounting on classic 1970s and 1980s bikes and fit machines as diverse as Yamaha XJ600’s and FJ1100, Kawasaki’s GPZ600R and GPZ1000RX, Suzuki’s GSX1100E and 1100 Katana, BMW’s K75 and K100, Honda’s XBR500 and Ducati’s Pantah range.
Admiral research has revealed two thirds of motorists eat when behind the wheel despite most drivers thinking it's dangerous and should be illegal. Almost one in six (15 per cent) motorists have also crashed or had a near miss as a result of in-car eating.
The survey of 2,000 motorists by Admiral has shown that while two thirds of drivers have eaten when driving, for one in twelve it's commonplace with them doing so between five and ten times a week.

Toyo Tires has released four new sizes in its Proxes R888 range, aimed specifically at 19-inch staggered wheel fitments on a range of Porsche models. The new sizes are 325/30ZR19, 345/30ZR19, 245/35ZR19 and 265/35ZR19 meaning that for the first time, owners with these tyre requirements will be able to opt for the race-proven grip of the Proxes R888.
Dutch company Bandenmarkt Tyre & Wheels says the new product range it is showing at this week’s SIMA show in Paris addresses a frustrating issue for farmers – tyre related breakdowns. The firm’s “Heavy Duty” agricultural radial range features reinforced steel and a puncture-resistant kevlar layer under the tread. Bandenmarkt Tyre & Wheels also says the tyre line-up has a higher load capacity than its competitors and extreme stability even at 65km/h.
Dutch tyre company Bandenmarkt Tyres & Wheels held a ceremony with representatives of official certification agency DNV in January to confirm the award of Certificate ISO 9001:2008. The award caps a year of working on the documentation system for quality, according to the management team, which made the decision to formalise all working processes in a quality system in January 2012.
The emphasis at Trelleborg’s stand during the upcoming SIMA agricultural show in Paris will be efficient farming practices. Trelleborg Wheel Systems reports it is participating in the ‘Zero Impact’ project organised by Italian organisation LifeGate. Zero Impact is a project that calculates and compensates for non-reducible CO2 emissions resulting from human activities, such as the manufacture of products. The idea behind Zero Impact is that environmental impact assessments are used to measure the affect of a particular activity, and participating companies can support the offset of this through the creation and protection of forest growth.
Kiene has developed a new adapter for its K-1350 Wheel Grabber. According to the company, the new “Extender” allows a technician to safely remove seized wheels from vehicles on a floor lift.
Renown German brand Hofmann has reintroduced a number of lifts into its line-up. The products, previously known under the Europa name, have been reintroduced to complement the current range of electro-mechanical products manufactured at Hofmann’s European factory. The lift range, which includes both electro-hydraulic and the EML 3000 two-post electro-mechanical lift, is available from all Hofmann distributors.
Continental has launched its new ContiTrailAttack 2 on/off-road bike tyre for bigger capacity dual-purpose machines. The manufacturer says it has “dramatically improved” wet grip and mileage through compound development, while the tyre also features Conti’s “Traction Skin” rider safety aid.
Standards Testing Laboratories, Inc. (STL), has been recognized as the testing source to test drag race wheels to meet SFI Foundation, Inc. (SFI) specifications. SFI is a non-profit organization established to issue and administer standards for specialty/performance automotive and racing equipment. The organization has a formal relationship with more than 200 race sanctioning bodies, providing an SFI standard compliance label for use on race-related products.
Commercial vehicle wheel and component manufacturer Accuride Corporation plans to invest more than US$30 million over the next two years in upgrading its steel wheel facilities during 2013-15. Specifics of this investment have not been given at this time; the US-based company says it will announce details of its 2013 capital programme later this year.
