Viking International has launched a website in order to provide more information about its new Millenium Tyre range following strong demand.
The website includes information about the tyre range, specifications and suitability of the UHP tyres for a vast range of cars. The site also provides dealer support with consumer incentives and POS support, and a unique password protected trade area where dealers can gain access to downloads and order POS materials direct.
Indonesia’s tyre production capacity is forecast to rise 9.3 per cent year-on-year to 69.6 million units in 2006. The association of tyre producers (APBI) said fears of slump in the country’s auto market this year will not significantly impact on the tyre industry. Last year two and four wheel production totalled 63.67 million units, with car tyres accounting for 41.7 million units, APBI chairman Aziz Pane said told Asian news sources. In 2006 exports are predicted to reach 31 million units, valued at US$600 million, up 10.6 per cent from last year.
EnTire Solutions, LLC has named Bianchi Public Relations, Inc as its public relations agency of record. The announcement was made by Richard Wolfe CEO of EnTire Solutions, and James A Bianchi, president of the public relations firm.
Bianchi Public Relations will provide strategic public relations counsel, media relations and promotional assistance to EnTire Solutions, which develops, markets and sells direct, driver-oriented tyre pressure monitoring (TPM) systems and related tools and services to vehicle manufacturers. The firm has been assisting EnTire Solutions on a project basis.

Superior Industries International, Inc is restructuring its manufacturing facility in Van Nuys, California, laying off approximately 375 employees, out of 635 manufacturing employees. Superior’s corporate offices and 125 corporate staff, which also are located at this facility, will not be affected by the downsizing. The company reports that manufacturing will continue despite the job cuts.

(Akron/Tire Review) Thai tyre and wheel maker Stamford Tires & Wheels said it is raising prices on its Stamford Sport Wheels and private branded wheel products by 3 to 5 per cent, effective 1 February. Stamford said prices on 13- to 15-inch wheels will increase by 5 per cent, while prices on 16-inch and greater wheels will increase 3 per cent.
Lexani Wheel Corp has moved into the tyre business, collaborating with South Korean manufacturer Nexen and distributor Zisser Tire. The ceremonial signing of the collaboration took place 20 January 2006 in Irvine, California. Zisser will market the tyres exclusively, worldwide.

According to the company, the new line cuts customer’s costs for high-end vehicle wheels by up to 75 per cent without sacrificing quality, performance or style.
As the automotive world converges in Detroit for the 2006 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), Alcoa Wheels Products say that the company is enjoying fitment on many new 2006 models.
Alcoa Wheel Products, a Cleveland-based business unit of Alcoa, has fitments on new production model vehicles including the Nissan Altima SE-R, Chrysler 300C SRT8, Dodge Charger SRT8, Dodge Ram 2500, Dodge Magnum SRT8, Dodge Viper and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. According to Titan, bonuses averaged $1,000 per employee, and included $200 in Sacajawea coin dollars. “Every year our employees work hard. (Akron/Tire Review) Tire and wheel maker Titan International Inc has settled a dispute with the City of Brownsville, Texas, home of its now closed tyre plant, agreeing to give the city 73.5 acres of land. The agreement ends a two-year lawsuit filed by Brownsville in the wake of Titan’s sudden closing of the plant in 2003.
