Wheel brand Fondmetal has launched its new lightweight and heat-treated wheel the 9RR, available from Performance Wheels. The Italian firm has been active in the OEM and motorsport wheel market for four decades, and the 9RR draws heavily from Fondmetal’s race heritage.
Main dealers don’t spring readily to mind when the average motorists thinks of affordable online tyre purchasing, yet Audi says that its approved centres throughout the UK offer competitive tyre fitting. Indeed, the company says that during March quotes given by its Audi Centres and Audi Authorised Repairers were, on average, four per cent cheaper than the leading national online tyre supplier on a like-for-like basis. Nordschleife, a company offering accessories celebrating the world-famous German race track, is now offering design sets to refine “virtually any” alloy wheel. It offers 3D emblems for the hub, for example, with a diameter of 59mm (2.3”). The silver Nordschleife 1927 logo with laurel wreath – protected by a clear plastic coating – commemorates the completion of the world's most demanding racetrack exactly 85 years ago.
Just weeks after unveiling the Ultrac Vorti to the international press and specialist traders, Dutch tyre manufacturer Vredestein will present its new high performance tyre to visitors at Top Marques Monaco. During the show, which takes place between 19 and 22 April, the Ultrac Vorti will be showcased on the Concept_One electric supercar developed by Rimac Automobili.

Alcoa Wheel Products Europe has announced the opening of its European Fleet Service Center, operational from 1 April, 2012. Located in Paal, Belgium, the Fleet Service Center will provide direct service to Alcoa wheel users, serving the majority of the European countries, according to Alcoa. The company says that the new facility will “improve the service level with better and faster support to Alcoa wheel customers”.
AME International has introduced its new Nut Buddy tool at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky on 22-24 March. The tool allows wheel nuts over-tightened by an impact wrench to be removed by hand. “This tool is so simple to use, a child could easily remove wheel-nuts on an 18 wheeler that have been over-tightened,” commented Brett Waggoner, vice-president of the Brooksville, Florida tool manufacturer. “For anyone who is doing road service or removing truck wheels in the shop, it’s a huge timesaver.”
Online tyre retailer Delticom has secured exclusive distribution rights in a number of European markets, including the UK, for the Anlas range of two-wheeler tyres. The Turkish tyre maker produces tyres for bicycles, mopeds, scooters, motorcycles, golf carts, ATV and agricultural vehicles; the initial range distributed by Delticom includes three products for scooters and mopeds, the M+S marked MB-458 Wintergrip scooter tyre, the Trials scooter cross tyre and the NR-SP WW whitewall tyre for urban retro scooters.

Pirelli has announced that it will sponsor this year’s Village on the Curves at the Le Mans 24 Hours. Formerly known as the Porsche Owners International Village, the Village on the Curves is situated at a spectacular vantage point on the 8.5 mile Circuit de la Sarthe. The cars enter the Porsche Curves in fifth gear, which is a fast but narrow complex of sweeping bends at the very end of the lap with little run-off, making it one of the best places to watch the Le Mans 24 Hours.
A man has died after being injured when a heavy goods tyre exploded in Lancashire. According to BBC News reports, the incident occurred at just around 10:00am on 21 February on the industrial estate where Red Scar Tyres in Preston is based.
