Yokohama Tire Corporation-sponsored off-roaders Cameron and Heidi Steele are competing in the storied SCORE Tecate Baja 1000, at Mexico's Baja Peninsula, betweenNovember 14-17. The Steeles, along with their Desert Assassins teammates, will race on various Geolandar tyres along the demanding course. The 45th running of the race goes from Ensenada to La Paz and is the SCORE (Southern California Off Road Enthusiasts) racing series season finale.

Hofmann Power Weight has shared some details of its plans to exhibit at the Essen Motor Show from 1 – 9 December 2012. Amongst other things, automobile enthusiasts will be able to purchase the appropriate adhesive weight for their wheel rims from the Hofmann stand. Exhibiting at the 2012 show will be Hofmann’s first appearance at the event, which is seen as a key meeting point for the tuning fraternity.
Continental has introduced the ContiClassicAttack; a new radial tyre that has been designed to revitalise the handling, stability, grip and safety performance of classic motorcycles. It is the only radial tyre in this category, says Continental and enables riders to eliminate many of the performance compromises of older bias-ply (aka cross-ply or diagonal) tyre designs.
The East Midlands Ambulance Service is to spend £80,000 on 1,000 new winter tyres to try to avoid being caught out by plummeting temperatures this season, reports the Skegness Standard.

Thule, the global manufacturer of car accessories came up with a spectacular demonstration of just how easy it is to fit their snow chains – and grabbed themselves a Guinness World Record into the bargain. In early October, the Lecco Ice Sports Complex in Italy played host to the record-breaking demonstration, with 24 Citroen C4 Aircross cars positioned on the ice in three rows of eight. Thule Easy-fit snow chains were positioned one metre from each wheel and, on the starting signal from Guinness World Record judge Lorenzo Veltri, a team of 12 people tried to fit as many snow chains as possible in 60 seconds.
Swedish manufacturer Trelleborg has been given the AGCO EAME 2012 Supplier of the Year Award in the ‘collaboration’ category. The award was bestowed during a ceremony held at the AGCO Fendt facility in Marktoberdorf, Germany on 25 September 2012.

Along with several other tyre majors, Yokohama Rubber has debuted new products at the MINExpo International 2012 show, which ends today in the US. The Japanese manufacturer is displaying a total of 17 OTR radials at the show, including the new “RL45” and “RL51”, along with a new sizes in its “RB42” range for rigid dump trucks.
Speedline Truck has launched a new ET 135, 22.5×11.75” light alloy wheel with 5,000kg payload for use with DAF, IVECO and SCANIA vehicles. The SLT 3063 wheel further bolsters Speedline Truck’s programme of 5,000kg load bearing wheels. The wheel spans the 26 and 32mm bolt hole bore. The wheel is being presented at the IAA for utility vehicles in Hannover.
In a recent press release, Italian machinery manufacturer Corghi declared that ‘revolution’ is occurring. This particular upheaval is taking place in the alignment business; on 21 January this year, after a six-year development period, Corghi released the R.E.M.O. – short for Robotic Equipment for Measuring by Optics. The R.E.M.O., whose name is also a nod to Corghi co-founder the late Remo Corghi, was conceived in response to the need to avoid all contact between a vehicle’s rim and an aligner’s clamps during measurement. Corghi says R.E.M.O. meets this goal completely, using artificial vision technology to measure toe-in, and complete 3D scanning of the wheel. This new product will be on display at Corghi’s Automechanika 2012 stand next week.
The US Federal Aviation Administration has issued an airworthiness directive concerning certain Goodyear aviation tyres manufactured in Brazil. The directive takes effect 13 September 2012 and relates to Brazilian-produced size H29x9.0-15 new tyres as fitted to vehicles including (but not limited to) Bombardier Model CL-600-2B19 aircraft. Retreaded tyres are not covered by the directive.
