Haweka wheel aligner investment to help reduce CV costs – DAF Dealer

A DAF dealer in West Sussex has purchased two TA-20 wheel aligners from Haweka, a measure it says will “help hauliers reduce their operational costs in the tough economic climate”. Barnes Group in Shoreham-by-Sea & Guildford believes the investment will help its customers save costs on fuel and tyres. Haweka is a UK supplier of commercial wheel alignment and wheel balancing accessories; it demonstrated the equipment to Barnes Group in its workshops, leading to the purchase.

Diagnostics: New aligning systems and software enhance capabilities

When talking of diagnostic equipment, many immediately think of engine analysers, hand-held electronic devices, but very few put wheel aligners or specialist balancers in that category. However, wheel service equipment specialist Pro-Align is keen to promote its comprehensive range of equipment designed to help workshops diagnose and solve many wheel and tyre related problems such as uneven tyre wear, difficult wheel vibration issues, vehicle pull or crooked steering wheels.

Up to 70% of inspected two-wheeler tyres need replacement, reports Protyre

The motorcycling season is just around the corner and riders nationwide are already preparing their bikes and scooters for a return to the road. This includes, of course, checking the rubber. Information from Protyre highlights a need for close scrutiny in this department: The independent retailer regularly deals with riders, and based on this experience it indicates that up to 70 per cent of motorcycles and scooters visiting Protyre premises have at least one tyre that is either defective or badly worn and in need of replacement. Protyre comments that these findings reinforce information from VOSA that shows defective tyres to be the fourth most frequent cause of motorcycle MOT failure in the UK.

Autodata doubles headquarters

Autodata, a leading provider of technical information to the motor trade recently doubled the size of its Maidenhead headquarters. The expansion plan included the relocation of the firm’s warehousing facilities and a complete refurbishing of its offices and reception area. The expansion represents an investment of some £2 million.

Corghi introduces Exact Black X aligner, column lift series

The latest Corghi products on the UK market include the Exact Black Tech X 3D wheel aligner series and the Four Columns (ERCO4004 and ERCO5004) and Two Columns (ERCO H4002 and ERCO H5002) lift series. An extensive range of Corghi products have been distributed exclusively in the UK for over 40 years by Apaseal, which offers full training, installation and technical service back-up. In the past three years Apaseal says it has increased investment throughout its resources and specialised workforce that, together with Corghi’s products, has permitted a quick and constant increase in wheel aligner sales.

Supertracker “increases UK sales” in 2010

Supertracker has told Tyres & Accessories that it has experienced “a very successful twelve months during 2010”, in which it continued “an ongoing and upward trend year-on-year since 1987” when the company was formed. The company said its presence at a number of trade shows was a contributing factor in this, including an appearance at Brityrex 2010. When asked if fully-integrated machines were seeing a rise in interest, Supertracker representatives told T&A that while the company was not seeing increases in sales of these units, “it would be true to say they form a part of Supertracker's sales”. The company then pointed to its new product releases, including the launch of the STR410 and a Steering Angle Reset Tool.

Tyre supplier BestBuyTyres Ltd has updated its website with a brand new look. The improved site has been designed to make the selection and purchasing process more simple and efficient for consumers. Jolyon Pope, director at BestBuyTyres comments: “Whilst we had been receiving positive feedback from customers regarding the existing website, we are always looking to improve our services. The new look site is easier to navigate and includes accurate real-time price and product updates.” Tyres bought on the website can be fitted and wheels balanced at more than 450 UK centres thanks in part to links with “three leading multi-outlet independent tyre specialists”.

Formula One Autocentres offers 4-wheel alignment with Hunter

Formula One Autocentres has announced that it is offering four wheel alignment service, using leading alignment machinery brand Hunter’s products, supplied by their UK distributor Pro-Align, at 13 of its branches, based mainly in the Midlands and the South of England. F1 Autocentres says it uses “world-leading Hunter garage alignment equipment” because they offer “accurate four wheel diagnosis and re-alignment, including personalised print out showing before and after measurements.”

ATS-E launches mobile “Carbon Cutter” service

ATS Euromaster has launched a pilot mobile service designed to help large truck fleets save on fuel costs and as a result reduce carbon emissions. The “Carbon Cutter” service uses technicians with purpose-built vans to visit customers’ sites across the UK to check, and if necessary adjust, the tyre pressures of every vehicle and trailer in the fleet. The technicians will also look for wheel alignment problems. They will also offer green valve caps as an indication of checked vehicles. Simon Tattersall, head of National Truck at ATS Euromaster, explains: “It’s no secret that correctly inflated and aligned tyres reduce rolling resistance on the road, yet in many cases we’re finding significant potential for fleets to further improve the accuracy of their pressures and alignment.

Pro-Align Releases Hunter Software Upgrades

Wheel alignment specialist Pro-Align has released two further information technology upgrades, which enhance the powerful capabilities of its wheel alignment systems. WinAlign 11 is the latest operating software for its Hunter WA series aligner console. The UK distributor says the latest version gives workshops greater functionality and levels of integration, helping to further simplify and reduce the time taken to perform complex wheel alignment work. Pro-Align has also launched ‘TouchRemote’, a free iPhone App that allows users to operate WinAlign alignment systems.
