Under the terms of the agreement reached between the two firms, Wegmann automotive will take ownership of Alligator sales and distribution operations for passenger car and heavy-duty truck tyre valves as well as for TPMS sensors and tools in both Europe and North America.

Eagle-eyed visitors to Reifen 2016 may have noticed that the Remog stand was staffed by Wegmann Automotive employees. In response to questions from Tyres & Accessories regarding the Wegmann Automotive presence, the German company confirmed it acquired its Italian competitor last autumn. Managing director Thorsten Thom states that the Italian balancing weights manufacturer, which was established in 1964, will continue to “operate independently within the market” and retain its headquarters in Rezzato. He stresses that Remog’s acquisition by Wegmann Automotive won’t affect customers in any way. Some changes, however, have taken place.
Hofmann Power Weight is now offering a new balancing solution called Balancing Compound 505. According to the company, the balancing compound works by dispersing along the tyre walls in a running tyre due to the centrifugal force. The higher the speed, the more the centrifugal force will disperse the material in the tyre and automatically push the compound opposite to the heavy spot, compensating for any vibrations.
The Hofmann Power Weight brand will exhibit its coloured adhesive balance weights at the Essen Motor Show from 29 November-7 December 2014. Hofmann Power Weight has added TPMS starter kits and valves to its product portfolio; both products are made to original equipment quality levels and provide wide coverage for their respective target markets, the company states.
Wegmann Automotive has introduced adhesive rolls into its Hoffmann Power Weight portfolio. These multifunctional rolls for use on alloy wheels are available in three different types, with each variant available in both silver and black. Both zinc rolls, types 356 and 357, feature an optimised shape that is said to make the product easy to form and separate. All types are equipped with Hofmann Power Weight’s Speedline tape, which enables detachment of weights affixed to a rim without leaving traces, and the manufacturer says the original equipment quality premium powder coating on all rolls protects against corrosion.
