Heuver Tyrewholesale has announced a new mobile website, allowing customers to place their orders anytime, anywhere. ‘The internet makes life so much easier. We already had a website and decided to expand it by adding a mobile feature, a kind of ‘app’, which can be used on a smartphone,” explains Bertus Heuver, director of Heuver Tyrewholesale.
North East based independent tyre wholesaler and retailer Tyrespot Ltd has appointed Johnathon Shaw as joint managing director. Shaw will hold the position with his father John Shaw who established the company in 1975.
Online tyre retailer Blackcirlces.com has joined TyreSafe, continuing a year of membership growth for the not-for-profit organisation reach top gear. The e-Tailer will assist TyreSafe in a wide range of campaigns aimed at raising the awareness of correct tyre maintenance. Trelleborg and New Holland have reported the initial success of their joint Blue Power tractor project and announced an extension of their partnership. Rackhams Auto Body Centre in Ipswich has installed a second wheel alignment bay, the second of which is operating a state-of-the-art Hunter HawkEye WA Imaging system with an in-floor lift from supplier Pro-Align. The other aligner is also from the American alignment firm, a Hunter P411 with conventional sensors. Rackhams’ purpose built Boss Hall Business Park site, which primarily operates as a body repair centre, repairs about 50 to 60 cars a week, about half of which require wheel alignment.
To better target female consumers, Cooper Tire & Rubber has signed a parternship with well-known North American online automotive resource AskPatty.com. This formal agreement continues the tyre maker’s relationship with AskPatty, which began in July with a series of online articles supported by AskPatty’s social media outlets to help educate women on the importance of tyre care.
CES (UK) Ltd recently launched Autosessive.com, a retail website which sells consumables, tools and gifts as well as ebeepbeep.com, a customer referral platform (designed in conjunction with The Parts Alliance) for garages to capture a share of the growing online market for car servicing and repairs. Avon Tyres has revamped its website and the new version is now live at www.avon-tyres.co.uk. The updated site features “a completely re-designed layout to give improved access to information on products for cars, 4x4s, motorcycles and vans.” According to the company, the site points to local Avon Tyres outlets through the “Find A Dealer” section. It also links to Avon Motorsport’s website, which has also been enhanced as one of the company’s chief marketing tools.
The Tyrespot autocentre chain in the north east has upgraded its website with a new look, also offering a new online tyre ordering facility and MOT booking service. The updated website features increased functionality, including a tyre price check and the ability to book a fitting. The UK’s leading supplier of wing mirrors, based in Bury, Lancashire, is entering the export market, taking its product to numerous countries, including Australia, Brazil, Singapore, Japan, Malta, Norway and France. Wing Mirror Man started in January 2006 and provides new wing mirrors to the public and trade. It supplies mirrors suitable for 29 vehicle manufacturers, covering more than 500 car models, and in excess of 4,000 different types and makes of wing mirrors.
TyreSafe has announced that one of the UK’s newest online tyre and wheel retailers, Goodgrip.co.uk has become its latest associate member. The website is the UK trading name of Bythjul Norden AB, which has been supplying winter and summer tyres to Nordic countries for the last 10 years and launched in the UK this October.
The F3 Euro Series will announce a new tyre supplier for 2012 as the existing deal with Korean manufacturer Kumho will not be renewed, Autosport.com reports. The website reports that the championship's managing director Walter Mertes says the amicable ending of the supply agreement meant the championship had lost “an always loyal partner”.
Michelin has introduced a range of online tools for its US market consumers; these new additions to its michelinman.com website, the tyre maker comments, will make “the complicated and somewhat confusing process of tyre buying easier and more enjoyable.” The online tools include the Team Michelin Tire Selector Tool, a tyre selection guide based upon performance preferences rather than the standard year-make-model approach; Team Michelin Experts, which involves “face-to-face” advice from Michelin tyre experts; User Tire Ratings and Reviews, an archive of more than 12,000 user reviews; Tires 101, a resource the company says even non-Michelin tyre owners will find useful; and “Call Me Please”, which enables site users to arrange a call from a Michelin Certified Product Expert to discuss their tyre needs and answer their questions.
Maxxis, the official partner of the British Drift Championship, has reported that the organisers of this series have acclaimed the 2011 season as “the best in the championship’s history” thanks to overwhelming support for all three classes. According to the company, such was the level of skill demonstrated over the past six months that there was everything to play for at the final round, held at the Nissan factory in Sunderland, and some very close battles provided a fitting end to the campaign.
A Bridgend garage that lost £10,500 worth of equipment to thieves is bouncing back after joining the HiQ network. Waterton Tyre Services now has the fast-fit franchise’s black and white branding above its forecourt, following a £60,000 investment. The garage, based in Waterton Industrial Estate, was robbed at the start of the year after just five months of trading in the town.
