New Warehouse and Distribution Centre for Sherbrook

Sherbrook International – whose wheel ranges include DJ, Outlaw, Rondell and Kosei – have announced the opening of a major new Wheel Storage and Distribution facility at Burntwood, Staffs. It will handle the entire warehousing and distribution operation for all four product lines, and with its exceptional transport and road links including the M6 toll motorway, will enable Sherbrook to deliver an enhanced service to distributors and trade customers alike.

VECO Moves in to Northern Ireland

The VECO range of automotive components is now available in Northern Ireland after Belfast-based SIA Agencies teamed up with GP Automotive, the official distributor of the brand in to the UK aftermarket. Under the new agreement, SIA Agencies has become the exclusive new VECO distributor in Northern Ireland and components are available immediately from the company’s warehouse in Belfast. The VECO label has gone from strength-to-strength since GP took over the brand last September. Its range of braking, clutch, water pump, cables, wheel bearings, and steering and suspension components have proved popular with aftermarket retailers seeking a cost-effective and reliable hard parts programme. The current VECO range exceeds 11,000 part numbers.

State-of-the-Art Warehouse Opens in Bahrain

In Bahrain, Abdulla Yousif Fakhro & Sons (AYF) has invested $1 million in a newly built warehouse and storage centre for Dunlop tyres. The facility, in Ma’ameer, has been operational since the start of the month, and the modern design of the building assists ventilation to help in keeping the tyres cool, which is crucial as high temperatures have a negative impact on the life of tyres.

Stamford Tires US to Relocate, Open New DC

(Akron/Tire Review) Stamford Tires & Wheels Inc. is relocating its corporate headquarters from Medley, Florida, to Charlotte, N.C., and is building its second U.S. distribution center in Charlotte. No timetable was given for completion of the planned 80,000-square-foot warehouse and headquarters facility.

ArvinMeritor Opens Warehouse/Distribution Center in Mexico

(Akron/Tire Review) ArvinMeritor Inc. opened its new warehouse and distribution center in Monterrey, Mexico, earlier this week. The facility will serve customers of its Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket (CVA) business, said ArvinMeritor, and is double the capacity of the company’s previous warehouse in Escobedo, Mexico.

Kumho Considering Larger DC in Atlanta Area – Reports

(Akron/Tire Review) Reports out of Atlanta indicate that Kumho Tire USA Corp. is considering opening a new and larger warehouse and distribution centre in Henry County, Ga.

MAHA UK Expands

MAHA moved into their new 12,000 sq ft purpose built factory and warehouse in June 2000 with a staff of 14. Extensions to the service stores started in March 2006 and which has increased the service stores area from 650 sq ft to almost 2,000 sq ft. Bob Smith joined MAHA UK in May 2006 as an experienced parts manager to maintain and expand MAHA’s service to all their customers throughout the UK.

New Honda Logistics Centre Opens

On 7th April Honda Logistics Centre (UK) Ltd opened a new £24 million logistics operation in Swindon, Wiltshire to supply parts to Honda’s UK car, motorcycle and power equipment networks. Employing 106 people, this state-of-the-art centre is adjacent to Honda’s UK and European car manufacturing facility where Honda employs 4,000 Associates manufacturing Civic and CR-V models. Further to its commitment to car manufacturing in the UK this new, fully-owned purpose built warehouse confirms Honda’s future Logistics and Procurement functions in Swindon.

Masked Gunmen Steal Truckloads of Tyres

(Akron/Tire Review) News reports from Ontario say that three masked men ambushed and stole two tractor-trailers loaded with tyres from a Bridgestone/Firestone warehouse in Mississauga, Ont. Local police are looking for witnesses in the robbery, which occurred in the wee hours of April 1. According to reports, a security guard at the facility was jumped by three armed men wearing masks. He was thrown to the ground and tied up, and the suspects drove off with the two trucks.

Pirellifilm Set to Make an Impact

Pro-Align Relocates

Pro-Align has moved into new premises at ‘The Old Orchard’, Towcester. Set in the heart of Northamptonshire countryside (a mile or two from the Silverstone Circuit), the barn conversion-style building provides offices, training facilities, service workshops and warehousing.

Paul Beaurain, Pro-Align’s MD told Tyres & Accessories: “We are delighted with the new site, it is beyond all our expectations and provides a very pleasant working environment for the team. With the site being located centrally between the M1 & M40, access for customers and the Pro-Align team alike is very good.”

Autogem Moves to London

Autogem, the UK’s largest workshop consumables and exhaust fittings specialist, has completed its warehouse re-location to Park Royal London. While the company will move into a new 60,000-foot facility in London, it will retain its telesales and administrative team in a new office in Leeds.

Heuver Banden More Than Doubles Warehousing

OTR tyre wholesale specialist Heuver Banden has spent 7 million euros on a new 12,000 square-metre warehouse, more than doubling its existing 4500 square-metre space. Construction of the new site, at Hadenberg in Holland, got underway in December 2005 and is expected to be completed in the spring in time for operations to begin in May.

TNT New Logistics Partner Of Pirelli Tyres Australia

Pirelli Tyres Australia (PTA) has recently awarded their domestic logistics activity to TNT Logistics for a minimum 3 year period. Under the terms of the Agreement, TNT Logistics will service Pirelli’s customer base from a central warehouse in Sydney with cross dock facilities established in Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane and Pirelli will be part of TNT’s new 25,000 m² logistics centre completed in August 2005 which is located in Erskine Park. TNT Logistics will also procure and manage on behalf of PTA a pool of purpose built stillages designed specifically for tyre storage to PTA’s specifications. “Pirelli is an important customer to TNT Logistics and we are delighted to further develop this relationship with Pirelli tyres in Australia,” emphasises Chris Demetriou, Director Business Development for TNT Logistics in Australia.
