Vipal Rubber has launched a new winter tread in European and Northern Hemisphere markets. Called the VT220, the tread is 3PMSF certified and suited to medium and long-haul use.
Brazilian retreading specialist Vipal Rubber has introduced a new version of its DV-RT4 line, and states that the pre-cured tread includes improvements stemming from the company’s ongoing efforts towards greater efficiency and profitability for end users. As a result of the changes made to the DV-RT4 tread, it is now also recommended for regional use as well as highway transport.
Vipal Rubber has appointed Frederico Schmidt as its new European general manager. Having previously worked in Vipal’s United States branch after being transferred from the company’s Brazilian headquarters, Schmidt has been with the retreading products manufacturer for 15 years.
Between 9 and 15 October, four Vipal retreading partners from Australia and New Zealand visiting the firm’s facilities in Brazil.
There were four retreaders in total, three from Australia (Arctic Cool, Tyre Lug and Eco Green) and one from New Zealand, (Power Retread). They toured the three plants of the leading tyre retreader, two in Nova Prata, Rio Grande do Sul (RS), and one in Feira de Santana, Bahia (BA). Vipal’s Head of International Business, Leandro Rigon, welcomed the group, accompanied by Adalberto Fernandez, Vipal’s Manager for MEROC (comprising Mercosul and Oceania), Tiago Campanharo, Commercial Director in Australia, and Rodrigo Refatti, Marketing Specialist.
Global retreading supplier Vipal Rubber was one of 500 exhibitors in the truck fleet sector taking part in the Great American Trucking Show between 25 and 27 August in Dallas, Texas, USA. Representing Vipal were Leonardo Oliveira, Vipal Rubber’s technical and sales representative, and Amaramh Velazquez, Vipal’s sales representative in the Western United States. Vipal introduced tyres retreaded by its customer Panhandle Tire & Rubber, from Amarillo TX with its VT170 ECO and VL130 ECO treads, which focus on wet grip and wear resistance respectively.
Vipal has appointed Leandro Rigon as the retreading materials and supplies manufacturer’s new international business director.
Rigon has been part of the Vipal team for over 20 years. He began his career in the company as a technician in the Brazilian market in 1995. With a degree in sales and marketing, he also has more than 15 years’ experience in the international market
Vipal has presented 11 retreaders and distributors with plaques commemorating their history in partnership. The South American manufacturer of tyre repair and retreading products chose to mark decade and half-decade relationships with partners in UK, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Hungary and Turkey.
Vipal brand hot retreading products will be manufactured in Spain thanks to a new joint venture started by the South American market leader and Mezclas Caucho. Not only is this a first in Europe; the JV’s production line will be the first anywhere in the world for Vipal outside its domestic Brazilian market. The agreement was officially signed during Reifen 2016, the world’s largest tyre trade show, which was held in May in Essen, Germany. It adds to Vipal’s increased activities in Europe, marked by sustained expansion over recent years.

On 5 April Vipal welcomed Vacu Lug managing director, Tim Hercock to Salvador, Bahia as part of a visit to the retreading materials supplier’s global headquarters and production base. According to the company, this deal allows Vipal to secure logistics gains for its products in Portugal and Spain, and as a consequence, the customers in the area will benefit from this partnership due to faster service.
Vipal Erope reports that its VRT3 tread has demonstrated 8 per cent better mileage when tested against similar competitor treads. To make its point, Vipal used the streets of Puglianello, Italy to host a battery of tests in what the company describes as the first performance comparison in Europe. Such a claim must refer to the comparative testing of pre-cure retread material brands, as there have been numerous comparison tests between new tyres.
