Netherlands-based wholesaler Van den Ban (VDB) will present its wide range of summer, all-season and winter tyres during The Tire Cologne. At stand C010 in Hall 7, the company will also present its private brands and exclusive brands Novex, Hifly, Maxxis, Aplus and Gripmax in detail.
Global Automotive Investments Holding BV is taking another step in expanding its international activities by acquiring Italian tyre distributor Tagliabue Gomme Gross Srl. The parties have come to an agreement for a takeover of the shares and expect the acquisition to be completed by mid-February 2024 at the latest.
Over the past year or so, Global Automotive Investments Holding (GAI) has acquired a significant stake in Tyremotive GmbH, but managing director and co-founder Jochen Freier initially retained his almost quarter share in the German tyre and wheel wholesaler. Freier has now sold and stepped down as MD “at his own request” on 31 January 2023, leaving behind him a 100% GAI-owned business.
With its sizeable exhibition presence at The Tire Cologne, Netherlands-based wholesaler Van den Ban not only had space to display products from its broad selection of private and exclusive brands, it was also well equipped to reforge face-to-face bonds with its many international contacts following the recent two-year pause. Speaking with Tyrepress.com on the trade fair’s final day, commercial director Cyril Versteeg stressed the importance of events such as this as a meeting point for existing and potential customers.
Swedish tyre wholesaler is now the exclusive distributor of the Vredestein range of car, light commercial and classic tyres in Sweden and Finland. Apollo Tyres will end direct sales to retailers of these Vredestein tyre categories as of 1 March 2022 and instead actively support Amring in further building the brand’s market share in these two markets. Apollo Tyres Nordic AB will continue selling Apollo TBR and OHT products directly in all Nordic markets.
Van den Ban has expanded its exclusive Gripmax brand with the addition of a new summer tyre, the ultra-high-performance SureGrip Pro Sport. The wholesaler is offering a launch range of more 40 dimensions for 18- to 22-inch rim diameters and will grow the line-up to more than 130 sizes at a later date. All currently available sizes have an EU tyre label ‘A’ grade for wet grip.

The modern, sporty pattern offers A-rated wet grip and availability in more than 40 size variations between 18 and 22”. The supplier says the tyre’s size range will ultimately be expanded to more than 130 SKUs.
The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has approved Global Automotive Investments Holding BV’s acquisition of PBG BV (Pon Tyre Group). The ACM reached its decision on 10 March after determining that the wholesale tyre market will remain sufficiently competitive following the takeover.
The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) announced today that Global Automotive Investments Holding BV, parent company of major tyre wholesalers Inter-Sprint and Van den Ban, intends to acquire PBG BV (Pon Tyre Group), the company that previously distributed the Continental tyre brand in the Netherlands. Global Automotive and current PBG owner Pon Holdings requested permission for the transaction on 29 January.

Dutch tyre wholesaler the Van den Ban Group has bought Sweden’s Amring AB. The Gothenburg-based tyre and wheel wholesaler and retailer had belonged to Pon Tyre Group since 2008. With this acquisition, Van den Ban increases its presence in Scandinavia. Further details regarding the transaction are not known at this stage

Two significant international tyre businesses have become the latest companies to become members of the International Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (ITMA). Yanchang Rubber of China, and the Dutch Van den Ban Group have both joined the association, taking ITMA’s membership to new record levels. ITMA chairman, Alfred Graham said the complexity of the European marketplace – especially in the wake of Brexit – could make ITMA’s activities even more relevant in the coming years.

When Tyres & Accessories recently met with Versteeg, commercial manager at Netherlands-based wholesaler Van den Ban, he reflected on the evolution of this principle over the years. While added value has always lain at the heart of the wholesale business model, the market has driven Van den Ban and other wholesalers to embrace entirely new demands. More than ever, wholesalers not only need to offer a complete and, where possible, exclusive range of products – they must also guarantee fast and accurate deliveries.
The Authority for Consumers and Markets (Autoriteit Consument & Markt) in the Netherlands has consented to the Inter-Sprint Group’s proposed acquisition of the Van den Ban Group. B.L.K. Vroomen, team manager for the authority’s Directorate of Competition, reports the ACM ruled on 17 September that “sufficient competition” will exist in the market following this transaction.
