Leading UK alloy wheel house, Wheelwright has launched a new design from the Dotz brand of fully TÜV approved wheels. The ‘Fast Seven’ wheel is suitable for a wide range of looks and applications. It is pressure cast in one piece, in what Wheelwright calls “a convincing take on a genuine split rim”. It has a gunmetal paint finish, juxtaposed with a diamond machined deep dish lip and bolt face.
Exhaust manufacturer Milltek Sport has released a new turbo back exhaust system for all models of the 1.4 TSi Skoda Fabia vRS. Manufactured in the UK, the system is hand-finished from aerospace grade, non-magnetic T304 stainless steel, making it lighter than the factory system.
Cam Systems company secretary, Sue Fowler has died following a “strong and unwavering” battle with cancer. The IT systems company said that Fowler “will be hugely missed by all her colleagues, customers and suppliers, and the company sends its sincere condolences to her family at this very difficult time.” Fowler joined Cam Systems in June 1988 and her gregarious personality quickly won her many friends and contacts in the industry. Mike Allen, managing director of Cam Systems, says: “Sue had that natural ability to bring out the best in people. Her ebullient and resolute personality ensured she conducted her role and responsibilities at Cam with utter professionalism, and she was determined to continue come what may during her illness. We will miss her tremendously.” The company said that condolences would be welcomed over email at info@cam-systems.co.uk.
On 27 March the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association, or ACEA, released its figures for commercial vehicle registrations during the month of February. These show demand for new commercial vehicles to be weaker in all major markets, with EU registrations declining 11.3 per cent year-on-year. The major market downturn ranged from 3.2 per cent in France to 29.9 per cent in Italy; the UK experienced a 16.6 per cent decline in total new commercial vehicle registrations. In total, 126,010 new commercial vehicles were registered in the European Union during February 2012, while UK registrations came to 11,102.

A new Michelin-run website aims to help UK motorists make an informed decision when it comes to choosing a tyre dealer. As part of what the tyre maker calls a “drive to improve consumer power”, it has introduced the Tyre Dealer Reviews site, which allows motorists to leave reviews of tyre dealers and provide a rating of between one and five stars, depending on their experiences.

News site dailyrecord.co.uk brings word that three Scottish school pupils have designed an app as part of the Arnold Clark Scottish Schools Challenge – and it is about to go on sale globally through Apple’s App Store. The app is called Free Wheelin’ and the central protagonist is a tyre, which players need to successfully roll down a track by tilting their smart phone.
ATS Euromaster says it is ducking to meet the finish line of its preparations for the London Olympics in late-July through to 9 September, when the Paralympic Games close. The company has been introducing measures to ensure its ability to support customers in areas affected by the Olympic and Paralympic Games. With three centres located within six miles of the Olympic Park in Stratford (Bow, Leyton and Camden), the company has special reason to make special plans, though ATS-E says it is taking into account all of its 15 centres within the M25, those close to Olympic venues outside London and centres near major airports, where traffic is expected to reach record levels on 13 August (the day after the Olympic Games closing ceremony).
The RMI's Independent Garage Association (IGA) has launched the Trust My Garage scheme, a consumer reassurance scheme for independent garages.
Stuart James, IGA Director, commented: "The Trust My Garage scheme offers consumers who use Independent garages financial reassurance in the event of a dispute or if the garage goes out of business. This reassurance is backed by the IGA.
The latest edition of the Michelin guide Main Cities of Europe goes on sale today; this 31st edition of the Main Cities guide features 44 cities in 20 countries, including four in the UK – London, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Michelin describes the English-language publication as being intended for business travellers and tourists “who want to be able to easily find, for example, a hotel near a convention centre or a restaurant in which they can entertain clients.”

More bus and coach workshop technicians have taken part in the Bridgestone Roadside course; a two-day initiative that trains technicians in health and safety, customer care and assessing the roadside situation.
