Tyrexpo Success

Over 1OOO trade visitors poured through the doors of the Singapore Expo Centre on Tuesday as Tyrexpo Asia got underway. The first day of the exhibition saw the highest single visitor figures in the event’s history.

Organisers, ECI international commented: “We have been delighted with the excellent turnout today. The exhibition floor has been very busy and exhibitors have expressed satisfaction with the quality of visitors attending the show. We have already had a number of rebookings for the next Tyrexpo Asia in two years time”.

Interstate to Launch New Tyre at Tyrexpo Asia

Interstate Tire & Rubber Co. is to officially launch a new high performance tyre – the Interstate Sport IXT-1 – at Tyrexpo Asia, which is being held in Singapore from September 13-15. The new tyre will fit rims up to 18″ and the range contains all popular tuning sizes.

Federal To Debut Complete Motorsport Series

Federal Tire plans to make the most of the opportunity provided by the Tyrexpo Asia exhibition and debut not one, but two complete motorsport series. The range, known collectively as “Federal Motorsport” is made up of the “595 Competition Series” and the “FZ Combat Series.”

In addition, Federal will also unveil the new Couragia M/T all terrain tyre, and the Milanza HZ-I, a brand new Hero brand UHP tyre. The company’s Himalaya WS-I winter product, Couragia S/U, Formoza FD-I and Hero branded 558 and 668 tyres will also be on display. The 595 Competition series has evolved from Federal’s popular SS595. Now the tyre has been renamed as simply the 595 and has spawned three variations, the 595 Drift Competition, 595EVO Street Competition and 595RS Sport Competition.

T&A Partners With Tyrexpo Asia Again

“Today southeast Asia and China host some of the fastest growing markets in the world. So having a tyre exhibition in Singapore is an ideal combination,” says Klaus Haddenbrock.

The publisher and chief editor of Tyres & Accessories, and its German sister magazine Neue Reifenzeitung, is confident that this year’s Tyrexpo Asia will be a complete success and the number of exhibitors and visitors will increase strongly.

For him the region is much more than just a “cheap production platform” and the tyre business will continue to be bullish in the future. “Its not only Western manufacturers that are looking for new markets in which to sell their products, so do their Eastern counterparts,” he adds.

The 2005 show will be the fifth time Tyres & Accessories has supported Tyrexpo Asia. Once again, T&A is the show’s exclusive European media partner. Organised by East Sussex-based ECI International, Tyrexpo Asia will be held at the Singapore Expo Centre from 13 – 15 September 2005. T&A will be on stand H 14.

Brityrex: Exhibitors vote relaunched show a success

After an absence of four years, the UK tyre industry was once again treated to its own, dedicated exhibition when Brityrex International was held in May at the Harrogate International Centre.

The show consisted of more than 70 exhibitors from all sectors of the industry and, over the three days of the show, 2,495 visitors came through the doors. Paul Farrant, Managing Director of organisers ECI International, was delighted with the reactions from visitors and exhibitors, with many of the latter booking space for the 2007 show on the spot.

A common theme in the feedback from exhibitors was the quality of the visitors, with many selling machinery off the stand (in one case, every piece of machinery on the stand was sold during the show) and others reporting lists of genuine enquiries to be followed up.

“This exhibition definitely showed that there is a need for a tyre industry, trade-only event,” he said, “and I see it as the springboard for future shows.” As a mark of their confidence, ECI have booked a third hall for the 2007 show, giving another 1,000 square metres of stand space.

“I would like to thank all the exhibitors for their efforts and I am very pleased that their hard work was rewarded by visitors who were obviously at Brityrex International to do some serious business.” Paul Farrant said, adding: “Hopefully those companies which were sitting on the fence this time will have seen the quality of the show and will lend their support for the 2007 exhibition.”

The exact dates for Brityrex International 2007 will be announced later this week and the show will be officially launched at the Tyrexpo Asia show in Singapore this September. Exhibitors wanting to reserve specific stand locations are advised to book early.

Tyrexpo Asia Review

The highlights and headlines from Tyrexpo Asia. The show hit the headlines in the Far East as it signalled the rise and rise of the Chinese tyre market. The show has grown by 25 per cent since the previous event and there is every sign of it growing further still. Singapore has long been at the crossroads of international trade, it seems set to retain that role form many years to come.

Brityrex Is Back For 2005

ECI International, the organisers of the Tyrexpo Asia series of exhibitions, has acquired the Brityrex name and is launching a new show for the UK, called Brityrex International 2005. The show will take place at the Harrogate International Centre from 10-12 May 2005. Paul Farrant and Rowena Suthers of ECI were the original team behind Brityrex when it was owned and organised by Tyre Exhibitions and they believe that there is a place for a dedicated event for the UK tyre industry, hence the launch of Brityrex International, described by ECI as “an independent, cost-effective, no frills trade exhibition.”

Tyrexpo Asia 2004 – A Resounding Success

In view of what has been happening in the fastidious world of tyre shows recently, it is refreshing to report on a successful venture. Of the four Asian tyre exhibitions to date, the Tyrexpo held in Singapore 17th-19th February was by far the best and, bearing in mind the various difficulties necessitating the postponement for six months because of the SARS outbreak, a triumphant achievement for the organisers ECI International. The show had a very strong international attendance both from an exhibitor and visitor perspective. A total attendance of close-on 3,000 from over 60 countries far exceeded most exhibitors expectations. The buying and negotiating power of visitors was also favourably commented on. Those seeking new technology were not disappointed and there were also a number of innovative products on show. The next Tyrexpo Asia will be from the 13th to 15th September 2005 and ECI advised us that many of the exhibitors from this year’s show have already rebooked stands. New Dates For Tyrexpo Asia

The Organisers of Tyrexpo Asia, ECI International Ltd., have announced new dates of 17 to 19 February 2004 for the fourth in the series of Tyrexpo Asia events. Paul Farrant, Managing Director of ECI International, confirms, together with the support of the industry, that it is in the interests of exhibitors and visitors to re-schedule Tyrexpo Asia from its original dates in September 2003 to the new dates of 17 to 19 February, 2004. It is believed that the current situation relating to the SARS virus could unduly affect the success of Tyrexpo Asia. By moving the dates to February 2004 it is anticipated that governmental travel restrictions will be significantly diminished and confidence in international travel fully restored.

UK Relaunch For Kelly At Tyrexpo Europe

The Kelly brand is to be relaunched at the Tyrexpo Europe exhibition in the UK in March. Director of Kelly Europe, Chris Kisby, says that the relaunch will give Kelly a powerful presence in the ‘price shopper’ market segment and a clearer identity in relation to the other group brands, Goodyear and Fulda. New products to extend the range will also be introduced at the show.

Tyrexpo Europe 2001 Preview

It is exhibition time once again in the UK, with Tyrexpo Europe 2001 being held in the Grand Hall at Olympia from March 14th to 16th. In terms of space, this is the largest-ever show in the event’s 23-year history. The exhibitor list underlines the show’s growing internationalisation over recent years, with companies coming from (naturally, given the name of the show) western and eastern Europe, the USA and Canada and the Far East. Manufacturing tyres has become an increasingly global business, and so has wholesaling, with companies searching the globe for new sources of products and also for customers. Wholesalers are well represented at Tyrexpo. An industry not enjoying good times at the moment is that of retreading, especially for passenger car tyres. It is no surprise, therefore, that the number of retreaders taking space at the show is below that of previous events. However, the industry is not totally unrepresented, with machinery manufacturers and suppliers of consumables taking space. Two areas which are becoming more prominent are those of tyre recycling and internet trading. Legal moves such as the banning of tyres for landfill and the End of Life Vehicle Directive are concentrating industry minds on recycling, and there are tyre collectors and disposers among the exhibitors. Few doubt that the internet will have a growing effect on the tyre – and every other – business, and Tyrexpo Europe provides the opportunity for some of the companies offering internet trading to show what they can offer. Our preview gives a flavour of the variety of exhibitors by giving details of some of what is on show. Tyrexpo Europe Review

This year’s Tyrexpo show was held only a matter of weeks before a rival exhibition, being run alongside an already-successful aftermarket exhibition. It would be naïve to believe that the existence of two shows so close together has had anything but an adverse effect on both events, and the fear was that the tyre industry would be the loser if we had two bad shows. The total number of visitors to Tyrexpo Europe was a disappointment, but many of the exhibitors expressed themselves satisfied with the quality of visitors. Opinions were polarised – some were happy, others not, some said that the UK needs a dedicated tyre show, others were not so sure. One thing on which all were agreed is that we cannot afford the same two-exhibition situation in two years’ time. Our review covers exhibitor’s reactions – warts and all.

Tyrexpo Asia 2001

Tyrexpo Asia 2001, to be held at the Singapore Expo Centre from 11 – 13 September, is the third Tyrexpo Asia to be held in Singapore. Although the name is the same, the exhibition has changed hands since the last show in 1998, but there is still a measure of continuity as the MD of the new organisers, ECI Ltd, is Paul Farrant, who was a director of previous organisers Labelex Exhibitions. And of course this show, like the first two, is being sponsored by TYRES & ACCESSORIES and German sister magazine NEUE REIFENZEITUNG. In reality, “the Asian market” is a collection of individual markets, each with varying degrees of potential. This has been recognised by others, and we have seen a number of exhibitions, loosely connected with the tyre industry in specific markets over previous years. In many cases, tyres and related equipment and services have been added on as something of an afterthought. Not so Tyrexpo Asia, which Paul Farrant describes as “the only show in the area dedicated to the tyre industry, and the one which is the best-established and which has built up a solid reputation.” The first show was held at a time of great optimism, with the phrase “Asian tiger economies” on everybody’s lips. What a difference there was two years later, with the words “Asian tigers” being replaced by “Asian crises”. But Asia is fighting back – car sales are increasing steadily, and cars mean tyres. The influence of south east Asia in the world’s tyre industry should not be under-estimated, neither should it be forgotten that four of the world’s ten largest tyre manufacturers are based in Asia and no fewer than fourteen of the world’s top twenty hail from Asia or the Indian sub-continent.

Kelly On The Way Out

In Europe the Kelly brand will be removed as part of a plan to reduce the number of Goodyear’s brands in Europe. Kelly’s removal is expected to be followed by other brands (Sava, Debica), with appeal only in Eastern Europe. The decision to scrap Kelly comes only seven months after the brand was comprehensively relaunched in the UK at Tyrexpo Europe.

Associations Back Intertyre

In the UK, the National Tyre Distributors Association and the Tyre Industry Council have given their backing to InterTyre. InterTyre is a trade exhibition, organised by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, which will run in conjunction with the European Automotive Trade Show at the end of April next year. The Tyre Industry Council is also a sponsor of Tyrexpo Europe, the rival exhibition which will take place six weeks earlier.
