Earlier this year, independent Swedish tyre distributor and service firm Colmec and Finland’s Lapin Kumi joined forces to create a new tyre services group – Circular Tire Services, or CTS. Other businesses soon joined, including Swedish tyre retailers Gummicentralen Säffle, Ingers Däck and Däckhuset i Norrland. Now Nödinge Däckservice has thrown its hat into the CTS ring.
At the start of the year, the Stertil Group acquired Beissbarth Automotive Testing Solutions. The workshop equipment developer and manufacturer now reports that it has entered into a “strategic partnership” in the wheel balancer and tyre changer segment.
Bridgestone is introducing the B-select retail concept in its home market of Japan. Around 700 company-owned and exclusive Bridgestone retailers have joined the B-select B2C network, while within the commercial segment some 400 B-select stores will be operating by the end of the year.
Norfolk-based Roger Warnes Transport and Prometeon Tyre Group have renewed their partnership for a further three years, continuing the long-standing relationship between the organisations. The deal covers the entire 222‐strong Roger Warnes Transport fleet – consisting of 108 trucks and 114 trailers – on a fixed pence per kilometre (PPK) contract.
Nottingham Tyre Company has adopted CAM’s Fitter-Force and e-jobsheet. The 24/7 mobile tyre repair service is digitising its operations on the platform in a bid to boost the efficiency of its operations and its customer service.
Halfords Group plc has made a further tyre sector acquisition with its purchase of LTC Trading Holdings Limited and subsidiary Lodge Tyre Company for £37.2 million. The addition of Lodge Tyre’s 50 garages and 248 mobile vans takes the Halfords garage services business to 656 garages, 253 consumer vans, 440 commercial vans and nine warehouses.
The number of dealers in the UK subscribed to open-access commercial tyre service app e-jobsheet has reached 60. The app connects dealers to several tyre manufacturers, allowing commercial tyre service providers to save administration time and money when conducting third party work. Dealers can also present their own direct fleet work to the highest standards.
Bush Tyres has expanded its Boston, Lincolnshire branch with four new service bays. The branch offers MOT testing for cars as well as Class 7 MOTs for vans and motorhome. The improvements to the branch include the installation of wider bays for improved access for larger vehicles. Bush has also installed an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Camera and Radar Calibration Service. The mechanical expansion means Bush Tyres Boston can offer products and services to the car, 4×4, SUV, and agricultural tyre segments, in addition to exhausts, batteries, brakes, wheel alignments, wheel balancing and suspension work.
Techking Tires is opening its first Techking Service Center (TSC) outside its home market of China this month. This inaugural international TSC is located in Pakistan, one of the largest markets for Techking truck tyres. Techking considers the launch of the TSC in Pakistan a “key breakthrough and milestone” in its global deployment, and the company intends to follow this by establishing some ten TSCs around the world in 2021.
Netherlands based Winntec recently added five new products to their already extensive range – The Winntec 420333 Jack, 420222 Jack and 20T and 30T industrial presses along with the Winntec M411355 Motionline lightweight jack.
Mahle and Daimler AG have settled an encoded OBD access deal for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. As a result, users of the MAHLE TechPRO or Brain Bee Connex diagnostic tools can now retrieve vehicle data via the Cyber Security feature. Security certificates are obtained by accessing the Daimler portal with an annual subscription from Mahle Or Brain Bee. As a special promotion, Mahle is offering holders of an active license free access until the end of the year.
With mobile tyre fitment take-up increasing since the pandemic, E-Cube equipment is aiming to become an “essential part of a tyre retailers services in the UK and Europe”. However, while things have been developing positively with the E-Cube in general, the coronavirus pandemic has is said to have “temporarily delayed” manufacturer TMG’s intention to fully launch E-Cube into the UK tyre market. Nevertheless, the final preparations regarding the distribution and servicing of the unit are being made now with a view to an early 2021 launch.
The maker of the E-CUBE mobile tyre fitting unit has introduced a new service tailoring the unit to various budgets. The Netherlands’ Technomarketing Group (TMG Group) has also launched a new commercial vehicle design and layout to increase safety and ergonomics for mobile tyre technicians. Ralph Dubbeldam, managing director of TMG Group says: “Our ultimate objective is to always make sure that there is a E-CUBE configuration for every customer type. It starts with the base model and depending on your activities you can simply add features related to communication, recording, data sharing, solar charging plus a lot more.
Though its plans for the first quarter UK launch of the E-CUBE mobile tyre servicing system has been interrupted, Netherlands-based TechnoMarketing Group (TMG) is working to promote its latest product innovation. The compact mobile tyre servicing unit has already been adopted by firms in Europe, North America, and South East Asia.
Hankook Tire signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on 16 April with Korean fleet management service provider UB1st. The cooperative relationship between the two companies focuses on creating a new type of fleet management service by combining Hankook Tire’s offline service capabilities with vehicle data collected by UB1st’s platforms, such as UbiKhan.
