Roughly a year after RoboTire raised $7.5 million dollars in a funding round led by US tyre retailer, Discount Tire, at the end of 2022 the company launched its first operational production cell at a Discount Tire centre in Arizona.

Around 26 May, Eden Tyre completed the purchase of Apex Tyres in Peterborough, bringing the tyre retailer’s total branch count to 22. Managing direct, Matthew Eden, commented:
Inverness, the UK’s most northerly city, recently gained its first Eurorepar Car Service centre. Autovision, situated on Harbour Road to the north of the city centre, is widely recognised as the Vauxhall dealership serving Inverness and its surrounding villages. The site’s workshop will now also be used to carry out all-makes servicing and repair work as a Eurorepar Car Service centre.
TBC Corporation, a leading tyre distributor in North America, has agreed to sell its company-owned retail portfolio to Mavis Tire Express Services Corp. Specifically, Mavis will acquire 392 NTB Tire and Service Centers (NTB) and 203 Tire Kingdom Service Centers (Tire Kingdom). In connection with the deal, Mavis and TBC have entered into a distribution agreement, through which TBC will provide wholesale and tyre distribution for Mavis retail locations. The transaction is expected to close in the coming weeks. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
HiQ Sheffield is a relatively recent addition to the HiQ network. The HiQ Tyres & Autocare Sheffield team joined the franchise network in October 2022 when manager George Snelling and his close family took on a new venture to start their Autocare business from scratch following the pandemic.
A Kent auto services and tyre supplier has upgraded its wheel alignment system to rectify axle and wheel misalignment with greater speed and accuracy. A2 Tyres, which operates four retail sites in the south-east, three for retail and vans and one for commercial vehicles, switched from a basic wheel alignment system to a Josam Cam-aligner upgrade kit after receiving a demo from Josam’s exclusive distributor, AES UK (Automotive Equipment Supplies). Accurate wheel alignment can reduce tyre wear, improving safety and saving fuel.
The Bosch Car Service network now totals to more than 350 garages across the UK and Ireland following the addition of Elite Garages, the single largest independent garage group to join the Bosch Car Service (BCS) UK network, with all 16 of its branches joining BCS.
Sam Kato is the new president and chief executive officer of TBC Corporation, which through its companies is active in the tyre wholesale, retail and fleet/automotive service sectors throughout North America. He succeeds Laurent Bourrut, who is retiring after completing his assignment to “position the company for strategic growth amid the evolution of the tyre industry.”
Following the success of the Tyre Technician Professional Development Scheme (TTPDS), which has seen more than 12,000 tyre technicians trained, assessed as competent and issued with a licence since 2014, the NTDA has launched a new licence specifically for mobile tyre technicians working on car and light vehicle tyres.
