The all-new Tire Cologne Show in Germany taking place in May represents “the perfect opportunity for…Enjoy Tyre to further expand their growing trading influence in Europe through their popular Private Brands – Rotalla and Routeway”, company representatives said in a statement ahead of the show.
With an investment of approximately 290 million euros, Hankook Tire is adding a truck tyre production unit to its factory in Rácalmás, Hungary. Work on this expansion project – the fourth since the plant opened in 2007 – will begin in June, with production expected to commence in June 2020. The truck tyre production unit will have the capacity to make 550,000 tyres a year, and its opening will create around 150 new jobs.
Firenza has confirmed it will be supporting the very first The Tire Cologne Show in Germany at the end of May.
From a traditionally appealing international booth, Firenza will be looking to showcase five of its most popular product ranges in both tire and wheels and making its debut in Europe will be the recently introduced Firenza ST06 and ST01A high performance PCR patterns which are exclusively manufactured in Thailand.
Kraiburg Austria is reports that another nine designs from the retreading specialist have successfully passed the 3PMSF test and are therefore approved as winter retreads with immediate effect. These are: K16, K26, K43, K45, K50, K51, K203, K204, K213. The tests were conducted by the Prüflabor Nord in January and February. As a result of the test a total of 29 Kraiburg patterns can be labelled with the 3PMSF pictogram.
After a more than 10-year market absence, Cooper Tire and Rubber is relaunching the Cooper brand of truck and bus radial (TBR) tyres in the USA. The range debuted at the Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC) Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition, which runs through 8 March in Atlanta, Georgia.
Giti Tire will display its new Giti GTL925 high cube trailer pattern in size 445/45R19.5 at the CV Show 2018 (National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham; 24-26 April, 2017; Stand 4G60). Falken Tyre Europe is expanding its portfolio of truck tyres, adding new sizes to its already proven GI388 for regional transport and construction-site use, introducing new high-load versions for the RI151 bus tyre and the SI011 winter truck tyre. The brand is boosting the load index of its steer axle tyres for regional use, as well as introducing high-load and XL width versions in response to market demand. These high-load tyre models have replaced their normal load index predecessors to minimise confusion and the need for duplicate stocking.
In 2017 trailer registrations reached over 190,000 in Western Europe which is the third highest level of demand ever recorded – surpassed only in 2007 and 2008, just before the 2009 crash caused by the global financial crisis (GFC), according to the latest data from Clear International.
Hankook Tyre UK will present its commercial vehicle tyre portfolio at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham. The show takes place from 24 to 26 April 2018 at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) and the Hankook stand (5C60) will be located in Hall 5. The stand will feature a wide range of tyres including the SmartFlex for regional haul, and the SmartWork for on and off road, both of which are selected as Original Equipment for MAN, Mercedes-Benz and Scania trucks. Furthermore, Hankook will launch a new all-position bus tyre for city traffic.

Under a new multi-year manufacturing offtake agreement, the Sailun tyre plant in Vietnam will produce truck and bus radial (TBR) tyres for Cooper Tire & Rubber. Tyres produced for Cooper in the Sailun Vietnam Co., Ltd. plant will be manufactured under the Roadmaster, Dean and Starfire brand names and be sold in global markets. Cooper says the offtake agreement gives it a “third global source of TBR tyre production to meet growing customer needs.”
On 1 February the European Commission began implementing regulation (EU) 2018/163, making imports of new and retreaded commercial vehicle tyres originating from China subject to registration. The news follows the initiation of anti-dumping proceedings on 11 August 2017 and anti-subsidy proceedings on 14 October 2017.

Sales were up ten per cent compared with those achieved in 2016, a result helped by the introduction of the first products into the Aeolus Neo range.
