Continental has introduced a new range of tyres for intercity buses. It says the Conti CoachRegio offers “reliable and safe touring between cities and villages under variable speed conditions, excellent handling and high mileage on hilly and winding regional roads.”
Chinese tyre maker Aufine is now offering its customers a way to avoid tariffs on commercial vehicle tyres by selling a range produced in Thailand.
Guizhou Tire recently broke ground on two new tyre production facilities near the firm’s headquarters in Guizhou, Guiyang province. According to Asian Rubber Journal reports, when operational, the first – a $307 million plant – is expected to generate nearly $426 million annually. Capacity is salted to be 3 million truck tyres a year.
Tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) firm ToughTech has received a £100,000 investment from NPIF – BFS & MSIF Microfinance, managed by GC Business Finance and MSIF and part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund.
Goodyear’s Drive-Over-Reader has received three industry awards in 2019, recognising the fleet tyre monitoring and management tool. The system won its latest accolade on 27 November when it was announced as the winner of the 2019 IoMobility ‘Mobility Innovation’ award by #Innovability. The annual IoMobility Awards honour innovative companies and products that address the challenges of “smart mobility” in Italy. Goodyear’s Drive-Over-Reader first received a prize in the ‘Mobility Innovation’ category, after being evaluated by a jury of more than 20 experts from the transport industry.
Midland Tyre Services (MTS)’s frontline team recently received a series of in-depth Michelin training courses tailored to its business. MTS, based in Borris-in-Ossory, County Laois, is one of Ireland’s largest and most recognised fleet mobility businesses. Operating 24 mobile service vans, all equipped with the latest tyre management technology – including real-time digital inspection and reporting tools – MTS supports thousands of commercial vehicles operating across Ireland.
BPW is now delivering the AirSave tyre pressure system, claiming that it pays for itself in the first year. The effectiveness of the company’s intelligent tyre pressure control system saves costs was tested in practice with transport companies: “The purchase pays for itself astonishingly quickly”, said Alfred Weyres, owner and managing director of Alfred Weyres Spedition GmbH. “The system ensures a permanently optimised roll resistance; fuel economy is clear – and added is the considerably longer tyre mileage. Because the fabric carcass is conserved, the system also optimises retreadability.”
Hubei Linglong Tire Co. Ltd., Linglong Tire’s fourth domestic Chinese manufacturing base, celebrated the production of its first truck tyres on 21 November. Dignitaries from Jingmen, Hubei, China, and Hubei Linglong Tire witnessed this historical moment together.
Goodyear has launched an update to its Omnitrac mixed service truck tyre range, with six new Heavy Duty fitments for the drive and steer axles. The tyres are designed to operate under severe conditions, offering improved durability, efficiency, mileage and traction in all weather conditions.

With 40 years’ experience in the transport industry, a 90-strong fleet, R.D Williams & Sons transports a range goods. The joint venture between Cooper Tire & Rubber Company and Sailun Vietnam Co, Ltd has produced its first tyre. ACTR, facility located near Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Seven years after the initial introduction of the European Tyre Label, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union have decided on the next phase of the European Tyre Label, which is set to be introduced on 1 May 2021. Article 14 of the agreement requires a review of the regulation by June 2025.
After years of fitting Bandvulc and Continental tyres to its fleet, leading supply chain logistics provider, Fowler Welch, has now put the two manufacturers’ low rolling resistance (LRR) offerings to the test. In a joint-trial at Millbrook Proving Ground, Fowler Welch and Bandvulc arranged an evaluation of the performance and efficiency benefits of low rolling resistance tyres, with support from Continental and its ContiPressureCheck TPMS system.
Sailun Tyre has introduced a new six-year product guarantee on all of its Sailun and RoadX truck tyres. The guarantee is valid as of 1 November 2019. Janis Amolins, sales director, Sailun Group Europe, said the guarantee “underlines the confidence and belief we have in the quality, performance and durability of our tyres.”
Pakistan’s leading tyre manufacturer, Service Industries Ltd. and Chaoyang Long March Tyre Co. Ltd. have reportedly signed a joint venture agreement to manufacture radial truck tyres in Pakistan.
