A Tevva electric truck perched on one of Maha UK’s flagship lifts will be sure to stop ITT Hub visitors in their tracks, as the workshop equipment manufacturer continues its preparations for the event at Farnborough International.
Goodyear will be showcasing its commercial Goodyear Total Mobility solution on a roadshow across 13 European countries in 2022. The tour follows the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship calendar as well as a number of key cities and trade events.
The year-long Drive Results tour and campaign kicked-off on 22 April in France, before heading to the United Kingdom and Italy in May for the first round of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship at Misano. The UK leg sees the company engage with this year’s ITT Hub at Farnbourgh International 11-12 May.

The company has got there by virtue of the combination of a sharp focus on its core business and an increasingly efficient – and technologically driven – production process. Wrexham-based haulage firm BJ Clarke is reaping the benefits of Michelin’s accidental tyre damage guarantee following a recent incident which totally wiped out two of its trailer tyres. James Clarke, Director at BJ Clarke and son of owners Brian and Nancy, says: “One of our trucks rolled over a girder that was sticking out near the roadside, at no fault of the driver, completely taking out two of the trailer’s tyres on one side. Usually, we would have been looking at a replacement bill of roughly £900 but thanks to the tyre guarantee we got 75 per cent of that paid back to us, to help fund the new tyres.”
An environmental impact assessment has commenced for the all-steel radial tyre plant that Zhongce Rubber Group (ZC Rubber) intends to build in Hangzhou, China. Subsidiary Hangzhou Zhongce Qiantang Industrial intends to set up the 6.5 million tyre a year greenfield facility in the Xiaoshan Linjiang High-tech Industrial Park; stakeholders now have an opportunity to comment on the project’s potential ramifications.
After extensive testing, the DR606 has become the first tyre from Prinx Chengshan to receive the TÜV SÜD test mark. The organisation evaluated the truck tyre for wet braking, pass-by noise, rolling resistance and robustness.
Iain Hayes will report to managing director, Nick Harley, and will be responsible for the company’s mobile operations, warehousing, tyre supplies and distribution.
Road Transport Expo is a new commercial vehicle trade show that will take place at the NAEC Stoneleigh in Warwickshire between 30 June and 2 July. More than 90 exhibitors have signed up, including Hankook Tyre UK, which plans to showcase its portfolio of commercial tyres including the new SmartFlex AH51 and SmartFlexDH51. Visitors can find Hankook at Stand F4.
Passenger cars now come with TPMS as standard, and before long this feature will also be required by law in the commercial segment. The European Union’s General Safety Regulation calls for newly homologated heavy commercial vehicle models such as buses and trucks, and their trailers, to be equipped with TPMS from July this year. Starting in 2024, all new vehicles must be equipped with TPMS. Continental is catering to this growth market by expanding its commercial vehicle servicing product range with TPMS Update Plus Transport, which turns its TPMS Pro device into a “comprehensive TPMS service tool for commercial vehicles.”
Prometeon is introducing a new generation of Pirelli-branded truck tyres, with five product lines for long haul, regional, urban and construction site applications arriving in EMEA markets early April. The range includes the first long haul Prometeon tyre with an EU label A rating for fuel efficiency.
Tyre management specialist Direct Tyre Management (DTM) has appointed Leigh Goodland as managing director. Goodland brings with him 25 years’ experience in commercial transport, logistics and vehicle fleet management.
Triangle Tyre has added a new size to its TB576 mobile crane tyre line-up – 445/95R25 TB576 174F. According to the company, Triangle distributors will be able to order the newly introduced size in April 2022.
The Michelin Group has announced that is suspending all its “industrial activity” in Russia as well as suspending its exports to Russia.
Michelin’s Davydovo tyre production plant near Moscow employs about 750 people and manufactures passenger car tyres and retreaded truck tyres. According to a statement from Michelin released on 15 March 2022, the Davydovo site’s production is “mainly for the local market”.
With more than 50 years of experience of retreading in the UK, Devon-based Bandvulc is well-known in the truck tyre and retread sectors. Over the years the company has established a reputation for producing top-quality retreads. Now, the Bandvulc says it is aiming to set the standard for retreading.
From the initial design and development work to casing recycling and tread application on the factory floor, Bandvulc implements measures designed to ensure its tyres perform across a range of applications. This is supported by the ongoing knowledge and expertise sharing partnership between Bandvulc and its parent company, Continental Tyres. Tony Mailling, Bandvulc Operations Director, explained the steps taken by the team at the Ivybridge factory to deliver the quality it does, beginning how they benchmark tyre quality:
Having been founded in 2015, Hove-based retreader Seryt Ltd (also known as Seryt Group) is still a relative newcomer. Not only that, but the business was founded at a time when the UK retreading scene has consolidated, meaning it is now made up of comparatively few players, all of which are decades older than Seryt. Nevertheless, something about Seryt’s approach brings with it the necessary fresh air for success and the company continues towards its ambitious European expansion plans despite wider market headwinds.
