(Akron/Tire Review) Chinese retreading product manufacturer Maxlink Corp., based in Guangdong Province, has joined TRIB as the groups 457th member. “TRIB continues to grow internationally as more and more companies in the retread industry throughout the world realize that TRIB is the only international retread industry association,” said Harvey Brodsky, TRIB’s managing director.
(Akron/Tire Review) The Tire Retread Information Bureau (TRIB) recently participated in Canada’s national truck show – Truck World 2006 – as both a featured presenter and an exhibitor. Held at the International Centre-Toronto on Apr. 2-22, the event brought nearly 20,000 trucking industry senior executives, fleet managers, owner-operators and drivers.

(Akron/Tire Review) So, just how accurate is a tyre billy or a boot at gauging a tyre’s inflation pressure? According to TRIB, not even close. The Tire Retread Information Bureau held a contest at the recent Mid-American Trucking Show, challenging truckers to demostrate their inflation guestimation skills – and none of the participants could come within +/- 5 psi, according to Harvey Brodsky, TRIB’s managing director.
TRIB’s Pump ‘Em, Don’t Thump ‘Em Tire Contest, co-sponsored by the Meritor Tire Inflation System by PSI, was designed to test the ability of CDL-carrying truck drivers to determine the pre-set inflation pressure of tires by just by giving the tire a good “thump.” Three truck tyres on wheels, provided by Hankook Tire Co., were inflated to a certain pressure and staged at the TRIB booth. Contestants got to kick, thump, bang or hit a tyre and then report what they believed to be the tyre’s inflation pressure.
(Akron/Tire Review) TRIB will hold its “Pump ‘Em, Don’t Thump ‘Em” contest at its booth at the upcoming Mid-America Trucking Show, set for next week in Louisville, Kentucky. The Mid-America Trucking Show is the trucking industry’s largest national event, and draws manufacturers, marketers and thousands of drivers each year.
The Pump ‘Em, Don’t Thump ‘Em contest, co-sponsored by ArvinMeritor, will be held Friday, 24 March at 10:30 am in Booth 6973 in the West Wing of the Kentucky Exposition Center.
After nearly 11 years at its present location, TRIB is moving to larger quarters. The association says it will be operating out of its new offices from 1 March. TRIB’s telephone and fax numbers will not change, and the association’s 900 Weldon Grove, Pacific Grove, CA 93950 postal address will also remain the same.
(Akron/Tire Review) The Tire Industry Association (TIA) announced that John Buettner, executive director for the Indiana/Illinois Tire Dealers Association, was elected chairman of the TIA state executive directors for 2006.
(Akron/Tire Review) The American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) has joined TRIB, and will work with the retread group “mutually beneficial” tyre-related projects.
(Akron/Tire Review) Shortly after announcing plans to develop polyurethane-based retread stock, Amerityre has joined the TRIB. “We are pleased to have Amerityre as a member of TRIB. They plan on becoming an important player in the retread industry and recognize TRIB as the only international association exclusively dedicated to promoting the use of retreaded tyres worldwide,” said Harvey Brodsky, TRIB’s managing director.
ArvinMeritor has become the latest member of the Tire Retread Information Bureau (TRIB). Based in Troy, Michigan, ArvinMeritor Commercial Vehicle Systems business unit serves the commercial truck and trailer and specialty original equipment manufacturers and related aftermarkets. The company also produces the Meritor Tire Inflation System.
(Akron/Tire Review) Trojan Tyres in Australia and Sousa & Companhia LDA from Portugal have joined the Tire Retread Information Bureau (TRIB), giving the organization 430 total members.
”We are now at 430 members in over 30 countries, which is the highest we have been in years,” said Harvey Brodsky, TRIB’s managing director. “As our promotional materials about retreading and tyre repairing continue to be circulated to the trucking and tyre media worldwide, more and more retreaders and tyre dealers who sell retreads are beginning to appreciate the value of TRIB membership.
Symons Tire Inc, purported to be the “world’s smallest Bandag shop” has joined TRIB, according to Tire Review. Symons Tire owner Mike “Mac” McElvogue, does all the actual retreading himself and has more than 25 years of experience, 17 of these have been as a Bandag dealer. Now Mr McElvogue is a certified Bandag Master Craftsman and Repair Specialist. “We are delighted to have Symons Tire as a part of the TRIB family. They may be small in size but their service can stand along the biggest dealers,” said Harvey Brodsky, TRIB’s managing director.
An updated ‘Retread Tire Buyer’s Guide is now available from the Tire Retread Information Bureau/TRIB, both on the TRIB web site and in a printed version.
The updated guide contains hundreds of names of retreaders throughout North America and many other countries. The document includes complete addresses and telephone numbers, along with the types of retreading available.
The Tire Retread Information Bureau (TRIB) has announced David Kolman as its new associate director.
Based in California, the TRIB is associated with the recycling of tyres through repair and retreading. Mr Kolman will operate from Baltimore, giving the bureau its first office on the East Coast and adding to its existing group of over 400 members in 28 countries worldwide.

Alliance has issues a memorandum of understanding and the due diligence process is under way. At the conclusion of the due diligence period either party has the option to walk away from the proposal.
The Tire Association of North America (TANA), the Tire Retread Information Bureau (TRIB), the International Tire & Rubber Association (ITRA) and Tire Review have announced the creation of “The One Fund”. A unified effort to collect and distribute donations to the victims of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre. Donations will be accepted through until February 2002 and will be distributed to named benefactors.
