Triangle Tyre has provided more details of the Triangle AgileX AT all-terrain tyre that it is bringing to Europe. It says the AgileX AT TR292 has been developed to “address the growing market for balanced on and off-road performance for consumers wanting the flexibility of great on-road and off-road performance”.
Triangle Tyre has shared further details of the Triangle AdvanteX TC101 tyre it presented several months ago. The tyre maker says internal tests show the AdvanteX demonstrated an 18 per cent improvement in wet braking over the Triangle tyre it replaces. Aquaplaning performance was 11 per cent better and dry braking nine per cent improved compared with the predecessor tyre.
Wholesaler Fintyre has gained exclusive Italian market distribution of the entire Triangle PCR portfolio, including the recently-presented overhauled Triangle tyre range for Europe. Triangle Tyre chose the European Fintyre Distribution (EfTD) member company thanks to its “extensive distribution coverage, its competence that distinguishes the company and its widespread presence on the Italian territory.”
In 2016 Triangle Tyre completed its initial public offering (IPO) on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. Back then Triangle’s top management promised that the company would invest in expanding its position in key markets – including Europe. Sure enough, in 2017 a new European leadership team was appointment and shortly afterwards a new European headquarters was opened in Milan. But around the same time, European anti-Chinese truck tyre import duties were also introduced. For many companies this meant the end of Chinese truck tyre business in tariff areas. So how has Triangle faired in this adverse business climate? Nearly two years after their appointment, Tyres & Accessories caught up with Triangle executives Corrado Moglia, general manager – Europe; Angelo Giannangeli, European marketing director; and Mirco Spiniella, business development director Europe in order to answer that question.

Triangle is exhibiting products including a new winter UHP pattern, two tyres from the European truck range and one OTR product. Specifically, Triangle is giving its Snowlink PL02 UHP asymmetric winter pattern its European debut. According to the company, this tyre offers excellent handling performance and grip on wet and snowy roads. And what’s more, it is expected to help boost sales during the next winter period.
As of 1 May, Triangle Tyre has strengthened its team within our region with the appointment of Luca Mai as OTR director, Europe. Mai joins Triangle Tyre from Marangoni, where he worked for 18 years, most recently as sales director for TBR and OTR tyres.
Johnson Controls International plc has appointed Pierre E. Cohade as a director. Cohade served as chief executive officer of Triangle Tyre from 2015 to May 2016. Before this, Cohade was president of Asia Pacific Tire, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.

Indeed, the largest manufacturers have been off-shoring for some time. As a result, virtually all the leading Chinese tyre manufacturers already have non-Chinese tyre production in place. Triangle’s consumer tyres will be exclusively distributed in Spain by distribution and retail company Tiresur. The agreement represents an increased footprint in Europe for Triangle; Spain is a key market in the Weihai manufacturer’s internationalisation strategy implemented since the listing on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
On 7 May the European Commission announced that it is implementing provisional anti-dumping duties of between 52.85 euros and 82.17 euros per tyre on new and retreaded tyres imported into Europe from China. Triangle Tyre has signed a distribution agreement with wholesaler B+B Reifencenter for the German market. Triangle stated that the agreement is part of its strategy to increase its presence across Europe. This also encompasses a renewed range of improved car tyres.
