Two new sizes have been added to Trelleborg’s TM600 agricultural radial range. With the addition of these new fitments – 480/8050 159D and 520/85R46 158A8 (158B) – the TM600 line-up now includes 29 sizes from 20 to 50 inches. Trelleborg comments that both new additions “demonstrate all the superior characteristics of the tyres within the TM600 range, including its unique TM range tread pattern that optimizes performance.”
Swedish manufacturer Trelleborg will present its new C-Series range of tyres, designed specifically for the construction sector, at next month’s International Construction & Utility Equipment Expo in the US. This new line-up includes off-the-road tyres and rubber tracks.
Starco Europe has announced the appointment of Anders Pålsson, an experienced Swedish business leader who has spent the last nine years as MD and CEO of Hilding Anders. In that time he guided the Swedish bed manufacturer from an annual turnover of 3,000 million SEK to 7,000 million SEK. Special wheel and tyre manufacturer and supplier Starco is preparing to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary.
Trelleborg Wheel Systems has introduced the Trelleborg High Knurling solution, engineered for high power tractors. Trelleborg says THK represents a “new concept” that has an advanced knurling design with a higher profile, which should improve high speed and torque performance. A new painting process will also yield greater friction between the rim and the tyre, according to the manufacturer.
Trelleborg Wheel Systems UK Limited has moved to new premises. According to John Westwood, managing director of the UK operation, the new office at Redwing Court on Willow Farm Business Park in Castle Donington, Leicestershire “not only supports our premium brand position, but also gives easy accessibility to our customer base, supporting our expansion in the region.”
Trelleborg has announced its continued investment in the Chinese market with the inauguration of its Shanghai research and development centre, which will offer state-of-the-art technology relating primarily to noise and vibration-damping brake solutions for passenger vehicles, according to a company statement. Trelleborg says that the continued investment in the region is reflective of its long-term strategy to invest in markets with favourable growth potential.
In its interim report for the April to June 2011 quarter, Sweden’s Trelleborg AB reported net sales of SEK 7,583 million (£721.2 million) from continuing operation, up on the same period last year. Operating profit grew 9.8 per cent year-on-year to SEK 706 million (£67.2 million) and net profit increased 13 per cent to SEK 469 million (£44.6 million).
Effective June 2011 Kevin Lowe was appointed as the new agricultural and forestry key account manager in the US market for Trelleborg Wheel Systems Americas. Lowe has worked in the tyre business for 23 years. Before joining Trelleborg North America, Kevin was a tyre retailer in Central Florida and worked in distribution and sales for another large tire manufacturer for the last six years in the Carolinas.
In addition to producing agricultural tyres in China, Swedish manufacturer Trelleborg is engaged in a number of automotive and other sectors. The company counts China as one of its most important individual geographic markets, with net sales there amounting to nearly SEK 1 billion (£97 million) in 2010. Trelleborg operates six wholly-owned production plants in China; the company has now expanded its presence there through the opening of a research and development centre in Shanghai that specialises in offering state-of-the-art technology primarily for noise and vibration-damping brake solutions for passenger vehicles.
Pirelli has appointed Mauro Pessi as president and CEO of its South America region with immediate effect. According to the company, the move is intended to facilitate the “consolidation…development of Pirelli leadership in the growing markets of South America.” Meanwhile, in order to maintain continuity of Pirelli’s business strategy in North America, the firm has announcement that Pessi will retain the chairmanship Pirelli NAFTA Region.
As of October 1, Patrik Romberg will take over as the Trelleborg Group’s senior vice-president of Corporate Communications. He succeeds Viktoria Bergman, who leaves the company on September 30.
On March 24, Trelleborg AB and Trelleborg Treasury AB finalised a 750 million euro and US$625 million syndicated multicurrency revolving credit facility. The total volume of this new credit facility corresponds to some SEK 10.6 billion (£1.03 billion) and it is scheduled to mature in March 2016. The new credit facility replaces and refinances Trelleborg’s existing 750 million euro and US$600 million multicurrency revolving credit from 2005, which had an original final scheduled maturity date in March 2012.
The upcoming retirement of Trelleborg Group CFO Bo Jacobsson created a vacancy that has now been filled by newcomer to the company, Carolina Dybeck Happe. The 38 year old former CFO of Swedish firm Assa Abloy’s EMEA region will take over the role on April 26; to ensure a smooth transition Jacobsson will remain with Trelleborg until retiring in June.
Trelleborg has announced that its acquisition of Lydney-based Watts Tyre Group was officially finalised on 4 February 2011. Watts has annual sales of approximately equivalent 300 million Swedish krone and about 210 employees. According to the company, the acquisition “strengthens Trelleborg’s world-leading position in industrial tyres, through geographic expansion and an increased presence in the aftermarket.” The operation will be integrated into Trelleborg Wheel Systems business area.
Trelleborg Wheel Systems Americas Inc has moved its North American corporate offices in Ohio about 25 miles (40 km) to Fairlawn from Hartville. “We are very pleased with our new location for the business’s industrial and agricultural tyre divisions,” says Ydo Doornbos, managing director. “The city of Fairlawn has been very welcoming.” The Hartville location will remain as a satellite distribution centre. The main Ohio distribution centre is located in Akron, Ohio.
