Hercules launches Terra Trac R/S
NewsHercules has confirmed that its Terra Trac R/S (rugged service), an all-terrain tyre built for rough conditions, is now available. Following its preview at SEMA 2012, the Terra Trac R/S is available in 10 LT/SUV fitments, with three-ply tread and/or three-ply sidewall construction in select sizes.
Debut for latest Goodyear wheel loader tyre
NewsEnjoying its world premiere at Bauma 2013 is Goodyear’s new RT-5D wheel loader tyre. The RT-5D is a level 250 (L5) traction tyre intended for use in severe conditions such as quarries, difficult industrial applications and in open or underground mines. Goodyear says the RT-5D offers 25 per cent more load capacity than its predecessor, the RT-5C.
Scrub motorcycle rubber, urges TyreSafe

ERL-50 joins Mitas earthmover range
NewsThe newest addition to the Mitas ERL earthmover tyre range has been unveiled at Bauma 2013. Like other products in the ERL range, the 20.5R25 ERL-50, which will be released globally in July, is intended for use on loaders, dozers and graders operating in rocky conditions. With the addition of the ERL-50, the ERL line-up now covers 12 sizes with tread depths ranging from 28 to 90mm.
Millionth Kama tyre fitted to Russian Polo
NewsVolkswagen has been enjoying, if you will forgive the pun, some good Kama in Russia of late. Earlier this month, tyre maker Nizhnekamskshina delivered the millionth Kama Euro tyre to the Volkswagen plant in Kaluga, where it produces a saloon variant of the Polo. The Kama tyres are supplied in sizes 175/70 R14, 185/60 R15 and 195/55 R15; both the Euro-129 asymmetric tread summer tyre and the all-season Euro-236 are fitted on the Polo.
Avon launches Storm 3D X-M sports-touring bike tyre
NewsAvon Tyres has launched its new Storm 3D X-M sports-touring bike tyre, manufactured in Britain for the hypersport motorcycle market. The tyre aims to combine the performance of the Storm 3D Ultra tyre with the increased longevity demanded by riders using their bikes more regularly. The tyre will be available from UK dealers in April.
Conti reintroduces TKV11 & TKV12 moto patterns
NewsThe classic motorcycle market is growing and interest in bikes from the 1980s is strong, and therefore Continental considers now an opportune time to reintroduce two former patterns, the TKV11 front and TKV12 rear sports tyres. The pair are suited for mounting on classic 1970s and 1980s bikes and fit machines as diverse as Yamaha XJ600’s and FJ1100, Kawasaki’s GPZ600R and GPZ1000RX, Suzuki’s GSX1100E and 1100 Katana, BMW’s K75 and K100, Honda’s XBR500 and Ducati’s Pantah range.

Kumho extends 4×4 fitments
NewsMeeting the increasing demands of larger 4×4 tyres, Kumho’s 4×4 tyre range is designed to cover popular Range Rover, Mercedes ML, Porsche Cayenne, VW Touareg and BMW X5 models as well as established Land Rover Defender fitments. Its latest ECSTA X3 KL17 line-up for top-of-the-range SUVs now includes popular fitments in the 18-22” size range. Kumho says the tyre has been designed to “take leadership” of the UHP market, spearheading a growing selection of technology-driven Kumho products for SUVs.
GT Radial improving 4×4 performance across range
NewsThe GT Radial brand currently contains three tyres to cover the range of 4×4 applications – the Adventuro M/T, Adventuro A/T and Savero HT Plus. Manufactured by GiTi Tire, the brand says that the current range offers its best performance yet to the segment, with fitments available for the lower and middle ranges of the 4×4/SUV market.
On-road performance a focus for Hankook’s Dynapro HP replacement
NewsHankook describes the SUV segment as “thriving”, and to cater for this class of vehicles it has released a new high performance summer product, the Dynapro HP2. The tyre maker says the HP2 has been developed primarily for on-road use, and a focus has been placed upon the three label criteria plus comfort levels. The original equipment and aftermarket range mainly covers 15 to 19-inch rim diameter sizes, and many fitments are XL marked.
Yokohama details most recent 4×4 tyre additions
NewsYokohama has a wide range of 4×4 tyres in the aftermarket, with recent original equipment deals testament to the brand’s on and off-road credentials. The Advan ST ‘MO’ is an OE fitment for Mercedes-Benz and the 2013 Toyota Rav4 sports the new Geolandar G91AV pattern as original equipment.
Recalling a bygone era – a new Waymaster range
NewsAlthough it boasts dimensions similar to those shown on recent Bridgestone and Michelin concept tyres, the latest Waymaster product released by Vintage Tyres is strictly old school. The new Waymaster Thirty features a tread pattern the classic tyre supplier describes as “recalling a bygone era”; the WM30 pattern harks back to the late 1920s, a time when tyre design moved on apace as designers sought ways to overcome the inherent instability and road noise associated with “block” tread patterns and create tyres suitable for the next generation of quality cars, such as the “Silent Sports Cars” soon to arrive from Bentley, Lagonda and Rolls Royce.
Bridgestone to offer SmartWay verified retreads
NewsIn the US, Bridgestone recently submitted four Bandag retread products to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for SmartWay verification. Upon approval, Bridgestone will offer a total of seven SmartWay verified retreads following a number earlier approvals. Three Bandag retread products – the B710 FuelTech, B197 FuelTech, and B135 FuelTech – are already on the agency’s list of low rolling resistance retreads.
