Cooper Tire Subsidiary Introduces New Application Tread

Cooper Tire and subsidiary Oliver Rubber Company have introduced their latest speciality application tread – the APWs.

The new APWs tread is designed for 70 per cent on-road and 30 per-cent off-road applications. It uses a compound known as Tri-Cor, and features a large and reportedly ‘aggressive’ tread pattern that features three circumferential self-cleaning grooves, which are designed to help make the product durable even when subject to high mileages.

Special Autumn Offer on Millennium Tyres

Viking International has launched a seasonal special offer across its private brand ultra high performance tyre range, Millennium Tyres. All tyres in the Millennium range have been reduced by at least 8 per cent with up to 10 per cent off selected sizes to encourage customers to trial the brand. The special reduction has been introduced as part of a seasonal focus and will run until the end of the year.

Goodyear Gets Jeep Compass Fitment

(Akron/Tire Review) Goodyear Wrangler SR-A tyres in size P215/65R17 will be the OE tyre on the 2007 Jeep Compass, a new compact SUV from DaimlerChrysler. The Wrangler SR-A is a tyre that features all-terrain traction and on-highway quiet. Its aggressive tread pattern is also designed for a smooth, quiet ride, said Goodyear.

New Sizes Added to Interstate Range

As part of its continuing size updating programme, Interstate Tires is introducing two new popular sizes. From December 2006 Interstate Sport IXT-1 will be available in 225/55R16 RF (reinforced) 99W, while the Interstate Sport IXT-1 will also come in 235/45R17 RF 97W. The Sport IXT-1 is described as an Ultra High Performance tyre with a directional pattern. The Sport IXT-1 boasts a special performance compound and tread pattern, for “incredible road holding in all conditions, especially in wet.” The programme runs from 13 to 18 inches and is available up to W-speed-rating and lots of XL load indexes.

New Michelin XMCL For Small EMs and Telescopic Handlers

Michelin recently launched the XMCL, a tyre designed for compact construction machinery such as backhoes, compact loaders, and telescopic handlers used in farming applications. According to the manufacturer, the XMCL offers two fundamental advantages over its predecessor (the XM27) it lasts up to 46 per cent longer, and its crown and sidewalls are up to 10 per cent more resistant to punctures. Among the features that make the new tyre tougher are deeper lugs, steel casing belts and protective sidewall ribs.

Michelin Launches New Crane Tyre

(Akron/Tire Review) Michelin North America’s (MNA) earthmover tyre group has introduced the X-Crane AT, designed for self-propelled all-terrain construction cranes. According to MNA, the new tyre ‘’reduces machine downtime, minimizes operational costs, reduces braking on wet surfaces and improves handling on the road and at the jobsite.’’ In addition, the tyre is said to have 7 per cent lower rolling resistance vs. other products, thereby reducing an operator’s fuel cost.

Cooper Adds Discoverer ATR to Line-Up

Cooper Tires has expanded its Discoverer off-road family of tyres with the addition of the ‘Discoverer ATR’. Designed exclusively for use on 4x4s, light trucks and SUVs, the Discoverer ATR delivers outstanding traction and versatility thanks to a radically new tread pattern, construction and compound, according to Cooper.

As Cooper’s hardest-working all-terrain tyre, the Discoverer ATR arrives with the promise of uncompromising performance regardless of the surface. The rugged five-rib tread pattern extends over the shoulders to enhance off-road traction. Combined with wide and deep saw tooth circumferential grooves, and lateral slots, the Discoverer ATR is said to provide “a solid all-terrain performance advantage and enhanced all-weather traction.”

Michelin Unveils the X One XDN 2 Grip at CV Show

The new Michelin X One XDN 2 Grip is the first tyre with a tread design and architecture that incorporates all three elements of “Michelin Durable Technologies” —an array of technological solutions developed by Michelin that includes patented Double Wave sipes, Raindrop sipes and InfiniCoil technology. Available in 495/45 R 22.5, the Michelin X One XDN 2 Grip is a wide single tyre designed to replace twins on the truck’s drive axle.

Coker Tyre to Offer BFGoodrich Redline Tyres

(Akron/Tire Review) Coker Tire Co. announced that it is offering BFGoodrich wide profile Redline radial tyres. With the tyre’s BFGoodrich v-block tread pattern and the distinctive appearance of a Redline sidewall, the supplier of classic and collector tyres said the tyre can turn a vehicle into “the ultimate muscle car tyre.”

Alliance Launches New Tread Pattern

Israel-based agricultural tyre manufacturer, Alliance, has released a new tread pattern and tyre size. The new 358 drive tyre tread pattern is characterised by strong lugs for heavy-duty services on medium HP agricultural tractors and implements. According to the company, the triple angled lugs deliver smooth ride in the field and on the road. The tyre’s “strong nylon diagonal carcass” is said to guard against mechanical failures and moisture deterioration. The new 358 is available in size 15.5 – 38.

Kraiburg Treads for Safer Winter Driving

Snow-covered roads, icy tarmac, wet, slush – those who want to be able to drive as safely as possible even in wintry conditions will need special tyres. Bridgestone Potenzas Standard on Ferrari F430

(Akron/Tire Review) Bridgestone Corp. announced that it has begun supplying Potenza RE050 tyres as standard equipment on the Ferrari F430. The 430, with a 4.3-liter eight-cylinder engine, is the successor to Ferrari’s 360 Modena. Bridgestone supplies the Potenza RE050 tyres in the size 225/35ZR19 84Y (front) and 285/35ZR19 99Y (rear). Bridgestone Potenza RE050 tyres for the Ferrari F430 feature an “asymmetrical, nondirectional tread pattern” and an “optimised” inner tread portion for wet-weather driving, the manufacturer said.
