Following the success of the firm’s recently launched IMI-accredited training course, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) specialists, Tyresure Ltd have announced the release of two additional courses for the new year. Focused on more specific areas of working with TPMS in everyday business, the new courses cover best practices for dealing with TPMS sensors in a tyre bay, and guidance on how to effectively sell TPMS to customers.
The Original Equipment Suppliers Aftermarket Association (OESAA) has delivered its latest Autoinform Live workshop training event. Held at the GTG Academy in Wolverhampton last weekend, more than 200 industry professionals attended the UK’s biggest workshop training event, with sessions delivered by OE suppliers and well-respected industry figures.
Automotive parts distributor, Fast Parts Wales, will run an MOT Tester training course for technicians on 22 November. The MOT Tester Annual Assessment for Class 3, 4, 5 and 7 vehicles, run by WG Auto Training, offers full MOT annual training and continuing professional development, and will be held at Fast Parts’ branch in Abercarn. The course will meet the DVSA Record of Training’s syllabus criteria, which includes three hours of annual CPD training, the annual assessment and all certification.
Bosch has been chosen by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) to help provide its technicians with the key training required to assess air conditioning repairs and refrigerant handling. Bosch will provide the required training to achieve IMIAL Level 3 Award in Automotive Refrigerant Handling to a number of the IMI’s External Quality Assurers (EQAs).
Membat has decided to organize a training day for its official distributors in Spain, as well as for its customers.
Mahle Aftermarket’s technical training at Automechanika Birmingham proved to be a huge success as large crowds visited the stand to gather information on all of its product groups. The training was delivered by a team of Mahle experts and included key tips on working with Mahle products, as well as outlining the many benefits of each range.
During the recent Automechanika exhibition Tyresure launched its latest training opportunity – an IMI-accredited specialist TPMS course. According to the company, this training is being offered to customers in the UK first and is targeting key distributors and wholesalers in the first instance.
Company representatives explained that the course features both theory and practical elements and is about servicing as much as training.
Valeo Service UK promoted its Tech Care Programme by highlighting its training opportunities and technical support at Automechanika Birmingham. As part of Valeo’s ‘We Care 4 You’ campaign, Tech Care offers advanced technical training. This keeps customers up to date with the latest tools and procedures via a variety of sources such as workshops, e-learning and webinars.
A 16-strong group of tyre dealership staff have taken part in the first Michelin Tyre Academy programme of 2017 – a dedicated training course aimed at members of the Michelin Auto Professional network develop the next generation of expert technicians.
Michelin held two launch events, with seven delegates from dealerships in the north of England, Wales and Northern Ireland invited to the Michelin Training Centre in Stoke-on-Trent for the first module, and nine from dealers across the south hosted at Gatwick’s Copthorne Hotel, where they met with Michelin’s technical training team.
Since the launch of the Roadside Emergency Action Concerning Technicians (REACT) scheme in 2011 more than 4000 commercial tyre technicians have registered with the NTDA been trained, assessed as competent and issued with a Licence to Work Safely at the Roadside across the UK and, more recently, the Republic of Ireland.
Following a competition recently held by Tyresure at the Automechanika exhibition for the chance to receive a free TPMS training session, the winner has now been confirmed as M-Sport Wheels Ltd. The business will receive comprehensive training from Tyresure’s TPMS experts, providing them with in-depth knowledge and IMI certification, once a suitable date has been arranged.

To celebrate the opening of a new Academy of Automotive Skills in Runcorn, the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMI) is offering free MOT Tester training to its members.
To support MOT businesses in the North of England, the RMI is opening its second Academy in July so MOT stations can have access to an all-encompassing cost effective MOT training solution from the UK’s largest automotive trade association.
September 2014 saw 425,861 new cars registered, and those still on the road are expected to need a first MOT in September 2017, resulting in a significant business opportunity for garages that have skilled staff and the right facilities at hand. With this in mind, Bosch is encouraging independent garages to ensure their technicians have the right MOT skills and qualification before the busiest testing period of the year.
