Leading Indian tyre maker MRF Tyres is launching its MRF Motorsport Tyres Europe operation during Autosport International 2016. This means the Indian brand, which is well known on the sub-continent, but has yet to make such a big splash outside Asia, will now be available to UK and European customers.

Yokohama exhibiting at Tokyo Auto Salon 2016
The Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd. will again participate in the Tokyo Auto Salon, this year held 15-17 January at Makuhari Messe. According to the company, the Yokohama exhibit will showcase both the company’s tyres and aluminium wheels, with a particular emphasis on the Advan global flagship brand.
James Bond ”SPECTRE” car showing at Autosport 2016
Between 14 and 17 January the Jaguar C-X75 featured in James Bond film SPECTRE will make an appearance at Autosport International.
SPECTRE, the 24th James Bond film, from Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn Mayer Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment, sees the Jaguar C-X75 driven by Hinx in one of the movie’s iconic high speed car chases.
Tyrexpo Africa pre-registration open
Pre-registration for Tyrexpo Africa 2016, which takes place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg between 8 and 10 March, opened on 7 December 2015. The show is targeted at companies focusing on the sourcing of tyres, tyre repair and maintenance equipment, and tyre accessories for purchase within the next three months.
‘bauma’ organiser further expands with Russian trade show acquisition
Messe München, organiser of the bauma construction and mining machinery trade fair, has further consolidated its position as the world’s leading organiser of trade exhibitions for this sector with the acquisition of Moscow-based CTT Expo, the world’s fifth largest construction machinery trade show. It says the acquisition is “both the biggest and most important purchase in Messe München’s history.” The seller is private Russian trade fair company Media Globe LLC.
Michelin refreshes maxi scooter range with two new tyres
Paris-based motorcycle exhibition Le Salon de la Moto played host to the global premiere of two new Michelin tyres aimed at a healthily-growing transportation segment. This pair of products is the Michelin Pilot Road 4 Scooter and Pilot Power 3 Scooter.
Latin Tyre Expo gains US DoC certification
The US Department of Commerce (DoC) has granted Latin Expo Group LLC Trade Fair Certification to organize the official United States Pavilion at the Latin American & Caribbean Tyre Expo 2016 exhibition at the ATLAPA Convention Centre, Ciudad de Panama, Panama, 13-15 July 2016.
2016 North American Tire & Retread Expo to feature special recycling exhibit
The North American Tire & Retread Expo will include its first annual Tire Recycling World exhibit in its 2016 show. Taking place 19-21 April at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, the three-day expo brings together a wide variety of tyre and retread industry professionals for networking, buying, and selling opportunities.
ChemChina proudly showing Pirelli connection
Now ChemChina has completed the purchase of Pirelli and the de-listing of the well-known Italian tyre firm’s shares, the first signs of how Pirelli will be integrated into the ChemChina tyre group are emerging. Walking onto the ChemChina stand, the first thing you notice is that the Pirelli logo now features at the head of a list of group-owned tyre business in at least two prominent positions on the large stand. While for many in Europe the sight of Pirelli alongside Aeolus, Double Happiness, Yellow Sea and Torch may feel a little strange, the obvious implication of ChemChina’s decision to present it this way is that we all need to start getting used to the new reality. Show organisers Messe Essen and CURC described Reifen China 2013 as a “total success” when it comes to showing tyre, wheel and garage equipment. The show is said to have occupied a total area of 11,500 square metres, 15 per cent more than one year ago.
Zafco launches new tyres at SEMA 2015
Zafco has unveiled two new tyres at Las Vegas’ SEMA show. The all-season Zeetex ZT3000, an eco-friendly alternative in the PCR category that offers exceptional wet grip and balanced driving behavior, and the slick Accelera Delta Sport, the brand’s first racing tyre engineered with the “R-Compound” are the new models on stand, which also featured Zeetex’s Café Zee concept.
Reifen China 2015 underway
Reifen China 2015, held at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre, opened its doors for a ninth consecutive time on 11 November. In his welcoming address Wei Yun, chairman of China United Rubber Corporation (CURC) who jointly organise the show with Messe Essen GmbH, pointed out that “This year RubberTech continues to run in association with the 9th Asian Essen Tire Show. We aim to set up a platform for exhibitors to present the latest technology and products in both the upstream and downstream rubber industry. During the three-day exhibition and conference, more than 600 exhibitors both from home and abroad from over 20 different countries…”
