“If the [pandemic] situation continues to improve”, Tyrexpo Asia 2021 will proceed as planned albeit with some digital modifications, the Singapore tyre trade exhibition’s organiser Tarsus Group have reported. Specifically, Tarsus Group reports that it is implementing digital elements “alongside the live event” scheduled to be held 17-19 November 2021.
The organizing committee of Citexpo have announced that the next edition of the Chinese tyre trade show will run from 12-14 December 2022 at the Shanghai World Expo exhibition centre. The last Citexpo (the 17th edition) was held in the summer of 2019 before the global Covid-19 pandemic caused havoc with largescale in-person events.
Earlier this year, the organiser of Latin Tyre Expo and Latin Auto Parts Expo rescheduled these events to October 2021 in the hope of allowing attendees to better cope with the “challenging circumstances” present since early 2020. Latin Expo Group has now postponed both events once more and is working towards Latin Tyre Expo and Latin Auto Parts Expo opening their doors between 29 June and 1 July 2022.
Messe Frankfurt, the organiser of Automechanika Birmingham, has appointed Grant Elrick as the company’s new sales director. Elrick is responsible for all sales and commercial activity around the Automechanika Birmingham show.
Nothing holds a candle to trade fairs when it comes to meeting up and sharing experiences. This past year may have shown us what life without tyre shows looks like, but it hasn’t offered us much in the way of alternatives.
When Koelnmesse confirmed the re-rescheduled dates for The Tire Cologne as 24-26 May 2022, it invited a retread of a 2020 spat with the organisers of Bologna based auto-repair and aftermarket show Autopromotec, whose 2022 edition is scheduled for 25-28 May. Then, Koelnmesse reacted to the enforced cancellation of the scheduled 2020 edition of The Tire Cologne by setting 18-21 May as the new dates for the show. The proximity of these dates to Autopromotec 2021, which was scheduled for 26-29 May, drew a strongly worded response from Renzo Servadei, chief executive officer of Autopromotec. He compared Koelnmesse’s decision to Darwinism: “This is not the time to play “survival of the fittest”. Even in the exhibition sector, the levers of competition can never prove fatal as today, while strategies of solidarity and collaboration should be triggered.”
Later today the organiser of The Tire Cologne is expected to confirm that the trade fair will not take place in May, as previously announced. Instead, Koelnmesse intends to focus upon plans for The Tire Cologne to return in 2022.
Trade registration for the all-new Autosport International (ASI) Connect opens on Thursday 14 January 2021. The online-only event will take place on 10-11 March 2021 and is being organised and promoted by Motorsport Network.
The exact timing for a return to a pre-2020 kind of normalcy is anyone’s guess, and this uncertainty makes event planning a risky undertaking. The organisers of tyre exhibition The Tire Cologne are therefore hedging their bets by combining the traditional trade fair format with a virtual show. Both are scheduled to take place between 18 and 20 May 2021.
Automechanika is offering new digital networking opportunities for everyone who had been looking forward to coming to Frankfurt this September. Starting on 10 September, there will be a series of online training courses for workshops available at sneak-preview.automechanika-frankfurt.com. Visitors to the website will also find updated company profiles for exhibitors, while users of the new ‘Connect’ tool in the Automechanika app will be able to contact other automotive professionals directly.
Autopromotec has postponed its 29th edition, originally planned for 26 – 29 May 2021 for a year. The event will now run Bologna from 25 – 28 May 2022. According to the show’s organisers Promotec SpA, the protection of exhibition was the primary reason for the decision. However, The Tire Cologne’s decision to postpone its 2020 show to dates that clash with the previously planned 2021 running of Autopromotec is likely to have featured in the decision.
The next SIMA agricultural trade show will take place in February 2021 rather than in November 2020, as originally planned. The organisers rescheduled the Paris-based fair to 21-25 February 2021 “at the request of a large number of exhibitors and organisations from the agricultural machinery industry whose production and distribution activities have been hit hard by today’s public health and economic crisis.”
The Tires & Rubber 2020 exhibition in Moscow has been rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Organiser Expocentre reports that the decision not to go ahead with the show between 24 and 27 April was taken after restrictions were announced by federal and city authorities.
In light of the news that Koelnmesse took the decision to delay The Tire Cologne until 2021, Tyres & Accessories interviewed communications manager, Voelker de Cloedt in order to find out more about the thinking behind the move as well as the particular dates the company has chosen. The conversation began with a question about the nature of physical exhibitions in light of analysts reports suggesting we could be witnessing to transition of the sector to virtual shows.
In order to “protect the health and safety of all participants during the Covid-19 emergency”, this year’s Latin American & Caribbean Tyre Expo and the Latin Auto Parts Expo has been postponed for four months. The organiser of the Panama City-based show, which originally was to take place between 14-17 July 2020, has rescheduled it to 17-20 November 2020.
