Diagnostic tool and vehicle technical support brand, Maverick Diagnostics, joined IAAF recently. Established I n1999 as Maverick Technology Ltd, Maverick Diagnostics is an established provider of original dealer diagnostics tools and technical support to the aftermarket in the UK and Europe.
Aftermarket supplier Autogem is bringing its product range to life in front of hundreds of garage businesses at Mechanex 2021, energised by its maiden victory in the NTDA’s Aftermarket Supplier of the Year Tyre Industry Awards category. The company said that it will showcase its solutions to a host of key decision makers and centre owners at the 9-10 November event. While making its name as a one-stop shop for all sorts of garage consumables, Autogem is also a specialist in TPMS, built around its investment in the I-sensor Pro handheld tool. The tool offers instant, personalised tyre pressure reporting with a completely integrated tread-depth measuring device to give technicians a full picture of the condition of each tyre they are tending to on an easy-to-read colour screen.
ATEQ TPMS Tools and Anyline, which develops mobile data capture technology, have announced that they have entered a strategic partnership that they say will “propel the TPMS industry forward”. As a result, Anyline’s advanced optical character recognition (OCR) solutions for the automotive aftermarket will be integrated into ATEQ’s TPMS tools, enabling technicians to scan tyre DOT codes, as well as vehicle identification numbers (VIN) and license plates.

The UK provider of automotive chemicals, fasteners, hand tools, workshop consumables, and TPMS solutions was recognised for its adaptation during the pandemic as well as its investment in products and training support.
Following on from a collaboration with National Highways (then Highways England), WheelRight began piloting its automatic tyre safety check system with supermarket giant Tesco since the start of the year.

Bridgestone has announced that it has developed an integrated TPMS system for its Webfleet predictive tyre maintenance and fleet management system. Designed for heavy commercial vehicles, such as trucks and buses, Webfleet TPMS “utilises sensors that continuously monitor tyre pressure levels and tyre temperature”.
The European Tyre & Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) recently participated in the European Commission (EC) “access to in-vehicle data” workshop. Thanking the EC for the chance to contribute to such a strategic topic for the automotive industry, the ETRMA called on the EC to publish “an ambitious legislative proposal on access to in-vehicle data” in the first quarter of 2022.
Pirelli is partnering with Geotab, a global leader in connected transportation. The new partnership sees Pirelli’s Cyber Fleet system available on the Geotab Marketplace. The new integrated offer, which aims to assist in improving fleets’ operating efficiency and sustainability, will be rolled out initially in key European markets before being extended to the United States, Canada and Brazil, Pirelli said.
TyreWatch has recently expanded its tyre management platform with AutoAlign, continuously monitoring for wheel misalignment, an issue it estimates affects a third of UK commercial vehicles, and VanSmart, a specific system for light commercial vehicles. With the new systems, TyreWatch has expanded its service offering further around the transport industry as it strives to balance commercial considerations with safety, compliance and ecological green initiatives. It says they enable fleet managers across all commercial sectors to reduce running costs and increase safety while limiting the environmental impact of their operation.
The 74th session of the UNECE WP 29 GRBP Working Party on Noise and Tyres will take place in September, and ahead of this meeting the Association of European Wheel Manufacturers (EUWA) highlights an impending change to regulations covering tyre pressure monitoring systems. This change will see the mandatory fitment of TPMS valves extended to further classes of vehicles.
Translink has signed a contract to protect its entire 1,400-strong bus and coach fleet with the latest generation Wheely-Safe technology. The deal was secured following a successful trial that highlighted the unique safety benefits of the system. Northern Ireland’s biggest public transport provider will now roll out the full suite of Wheely-Safe’s intelligent tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), wheel loss and brake temperature sensing systems over the course of the next 12 months.
PJ Thory Ltd has installed a TyreWatch system to monitor and control tyre maintenance and safety across its extensive 8-wheeler HGV fleet. The firm’s diverse operation spans mixed haulage, aggregate supplies, waste management and demolition. Working with TyreWatch technicians and Prometeon Tyre Group, the agro and off-road tyre specialist, PJ Thory, undertook an analysis and short trial to assess their requirements and bed-in the new tyre pressure management system (TPMS), which is now fitted to 11 Scania vehicles with a number of new DAF 8 wheelers to follow.
In mid-June Hamaton introduced the ATEQ VT37 as its lowest priced TPMS tool. ATEQ describes the VT37 as an activation, programming, and TPMS relearn tool ideal for DIYers, technicians and front counter workers. The VT37 supersedes the VT36, providing comprehensive vehicle-specific relearn procedures, which will benefit technicians during the sensor replacement process.
Goodyear is launching a new and “very user-friendly” tyre pressure monitoring system for HGVs and trailers. With DrivePoint joining the existing TPMS and Drive-Over-Reader smart tyre monitoring solutions within Goodyear’s Total Mobility portfolio, the company can now offer three alternatives.
