Durham City Transit Company (DCTC) and Tyrata, Inc., have completed a test and evaluation protocol trialling Tyrata’s Drive-Over System (DOS) and data analytics. The solid-state DOS automatically collects and analyzes tyre tread depth as buses drive over the low-profile, speedbump-like sensor.

Autogem has unveiled its second generation Treadspec drive-over scanners, offering a more efficient and simplified way to perform simple tyre checks for wear, alignment issues and inflation. The Treadspec 2.0 supplements the company’s Groove Glove, which allows garage mechanics to scan all four tyres on any given vehicle and discover the tread depth and alignment of each within 50 seconds.
Three new members have joined Schrader TPMS Solutions’ sales team in the EMEA region: Ayhan Akin, Patrick Bondzio and Thorbjörn Källsbäck. The trio, who report to Alexander Baumann, will be responsible for the existing customer base in their respective markets as well as its strategic growth projects.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has put new rules designed to ensure “no tyre is below its minimum serviceable inflation pressure during operation.” On 5 March, EASA put the Notice of Proposed Amendment out for consultation, with a view to making a proposal to the commission in the first quarter of 2021.
On 14 February 2020, Schrader was found to have contributed to and induced infringement of Wasica Finance GmbH and BlueArc Finance AG’s 524 patent. The patent relates to tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) technology. As a result, the claimants were awarded US$31.2 million in royalty damages.
Following the company’s recent acquisition of high-precision tyre balancing solution Magnum+, Martins Industries sent the system’s tempered glass beads to TÜV SÜD for testing. The tests were performed in December 2019 and the results that came later in January have confirmed that Magnum+ is approved for safety of the tyre, valves, TPMS.
ATEQ has released a software update for its VT36, VT46 (including branded versions), VT55 and VT56 models. The update includes new and updated vehicle models, OE-sensor and relearn information and new Aftermarket sensors:
ATEQ TPMS Tools has named Agneta Ronceret as EMEA TPMS manager for OEM, truck and industrial sales. Ronceret joined ATEQ TPMS tools division in France in 2015 as sales manager for TPMS tools in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Australia/New Zealand.
Tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) firm ToughTech has received a £100,000 investment from NPIF – BFS & MSIF Microfinance, managed by GC Business Finance and MSIF and part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund.
Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI), the company behind the Falken tyre brand, has developed a solution to remotely monitor the tyre pressure of unoccupied vehicles such as self-driving cars. In a step towards ensuring the safety of Level 4 and above autonomous vehicles, SRI has successfully linked its tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) with an Autonomous Driving Control Centre.
Autoparts Garage Equipment (AGE) has launched a TPMS Starter Kit. With a high number of vehicles now fitted with tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS), there is a requirement for TPMS sensors to be serviced regularly to prevent faults. Furthermore, a faulty TPMS sensor can result in an MOT failure.
