John Ferguson has been appointed Toyo Tire North America OE Sales’ director of sales. Commenting on Ferguson’s new role, James Hawk, president of Toyo Tire North America OE Sales, said “John brings a solid track record to this position, and has been a valuable asset to our organisation as we grow our business with domestic OE vehicle manufacturers including Ford, Dodge and Ram.”
To loosely paraphrase the 2012 Taylor Swift song, Sentury Tires America is never, ever getting back together with the CLV6 tyre. In a statement released 19 February, Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas Inc. shared that Sentury has “agreed to never produce the original CLV6 tyre that was displayed at the 2012 SEMA Show or any tyre with a similar tread design” as part of the settlement it has reached with Toyo. The CLV6 was viewed by Toyo as an infringement of its United States design patent for the tread design used on its Nitto Motivo tyre.

Toyo has launched its new Open Country AT Plus tyre in an event at the Hungaroring. The versatile new all-terrain tyre was demonstrated on what Toyo calls one of the most demanding off-road courses in Europe, as well as completing a series of tarmac challenges. Japanese tyre manufacturer Toyo Tires has announced the UK launch of its road-legal track tyre, the Proxes R888R. The tyre will be displayed at Autosport International, which begins tomorrow (8 January 2015). The tyre previously made its global debut at the Essen Motorshow in November.

The Toyo Open Country A25, produced at the company’s Toyo Tire Malaysia factory, has been selected as an original equipment fitment on models of the NP300 Navara pickup produced in Thailand. The 12th generation Navara will receive the Open Country A25 in size 255/70R16 111H. The tyres will be delivered through Toyo Tire (Thailand), the local sales subsidiary established in April 2013. This is the first occasion that a tyre produced at the Toyo Tire Malaysia plant has been adopted as an original equipment tyre, and the first time Toyo Tire (Thailand) has supplied tyres to an OEM customer.
Toyo Tire & Rubber has unveiled a new commemorative logo to mark the 70th anniversary of Toyo Tire & Rubber next year. A further, more tangible change will also take place in conjunction with the anniversary – the company is shifting to a new headquarters.
