Toyo Tire & Rubber has decided to increase the number of company representative directors from one to two in order to strengthen its corporate governance system in light of group growth and expansion. Chairman Katsumi Komaguchi will therefore, as of 1 January 2016, become a representative director.

Toyo Tires has announced that is has decided to renew its UK partnership with Leicester City Football Club into the 2015 and 2016 season. The Board of Directors at Toyo Tire & Rubber today resolved to hold an Extraordinary Meeting of Shareholders on 12 November in order to present its candidates for the positions of chairman and president. Team Toyo Tires Drift driver Masato Kawabata has claimed the 2015 D1 Grand Prix Championship in Japan, his third D1GP championship victory. Publishing its first half 2015 financial results, Toyo Tire and Rubber has reported net sales of 194,402 million yen (£999.314 million; 1.408 billion euros; US$1.556 billion), an increase of 7,080 million yen or 3.8 per cent from the same period in 2014. This resulted in a net loss of 4,156 million yen (£21.365 million; 30.116 million; $33.268 million) compared with 15,269 million yen profit in the same part of 2014.
When Jonny Smith, presenter of the Fifth Gear television show, tweeted his urgent need for some road-legal rubber at Carfest, Toyo was happy to oblige. The manufacturer fitted its Proxes R888 to Smith’s electric drag racer – an unusual vehicle in which the TV personality hoped to impress the crowds at Chris Evans’ Carfest event, raising funds for charity in the process.
