Rodcraft has launched a new series of mini impact wrenches designed to increase durability, power and user comfort in vehicle service applications. At 177 mm long, the RC2147 and RC2247 3/8’ and 1/2’ impact wrenches are supplied for use in access-restricted areas, such as transmission and engine compartments. They have 330Nm and 540Nm of reverse torque. They feature three power settings in forward and full power in reverse.
Euro Car Parts states that sales of Milwaukee power tools have risen in concert with Josh Brookes’ back-to-back British Superbike Championship victories. The distributor’s CEO, Martin Gray, said that the Australian rider’s “performances have helped to increase awareness of the brand and we have seen a significant uplift in Milwaukee power tool sales.”

Alba Diagnostics has added a new device to its range of hand-held diagnostic tools. The Amp Hound is designed to measure amps and reduce the amount of time to determine the current in a fused circuit.
According to the company, Amp Hound removes the need to take out fuses one at a time before checking each circuit with a multimeter. With the Amp Hound it is now possible to check the complete fuse box quickly and effectively.

A survey by The Parts Alliance has revealed that garage owners are feeling confident about the future with many planning to invest in equipment and training, and some looking to take on extra staff. Some 67 per cent of those who responded said they expected the first half of 2014 to see an upturn in trade and, looking further ahead, some 73 per cent felt ‘very confident’ about the year as a whole. The survey was conducted among garages belonging to the Servicesure Autocentre garage programme run by The Parts Alliance.

Ford Retail’s UK parts division, @first Parts, has reported an annual turnover of over £100 million in 2013, the first time since its launch in 2004. According to the company, overall parts sales saw an increase of 14 per cent year-on-year, whist the Trade, Bodyshop and Ford Dealers divisions reported an annual growth of 13 per cent, 22 per cent and 12 per cent respectively.

The RAC has opted to roll out a universal spare wheel designed to speed up the fix time and minimise inconvenience for members who experience a puncture without having a spare, following a successful trial of the product which began last Autumn. By early February all RAC patrols across the UK will be equipped with the Dynomec-produced wheel, which provides a solution to the increasingly common problem brought about by manufacturers not including a spare wheel in their cars as standard.
