Snap-on Tools has the new MG725 half-inch impact gun. This small, lightweight gun delivers 810 ft lb maximum torque on the reverse direction with a slim style nose making it perfect for working in restricted access areas. Its eight-vane motor provides greater performance with more torque.

TyreSafe – the newly rebranded Tyre Industry Council – has provided an online animated guide to tyre safety for motorists, comprising ten digitally-animated steps. The guide can be accessed at the not-for-profit organisation’s website.
Recent independent research conducted by a leading tyre manufacturer and TyreSafe members revealed that almost 80 per cent of cars on British roads are running with incorrect tyre pressures and 90 per cent of UK drivers do not know the correct pressure of their tyres. The latest alignment products available from the Northampton based firm are the Probat alignment tool for motorcycles and the Proquat, suitable for ATVs. These German manufactured laser aligners offer, reports ProBike, a very quick and accurate method of measuring motorcycle or ATV wheel alignment. Two separate laser line generator modules project vertical laser beams from the rear wheel forward, striking the screens attached to the front wheel. Viewing the position of these beams on the front screens provides the operator with instant, easily readable information about the vehicle’s current alignment and camber settings.
Management from Sapphire Energy Recovery and Glacier – the resource recovery businesses owned by Lafarge Cement – have embarked on a nationwide tour to review safety improvements made at sites and to elevate safety awareness amongst employees. Senior staff, including Sapphire’s resource recovery manager Jamie Randall, commenced their week long roadshow at the Thurrock site where Sapphire collects and processes used tyres for transformation into fuel for cement kilns. Visits were also made to Westbury, Cauldon, Hope, Oldbury, Manchester and Dunbar, where the focus upon safety awareness tied in with Lafarge’s global safety month, which has been held this summer across 76 countries and 3,000 sites.
ATS Euromaster has begun to receive the products of the company’s £4.5 million investment, comprising in the main new Mercedes-Benz Sprinters, Iveco Dailys and Renault Kangoos. A total of 150 new light commercial vehicles will be integrated into the firm’s operations as part of its fleet replacement programme for 2008. The vans are leased on four to five-year rental agreements.
Designed to take on specific roles in the fleet, the delivery includes mobile fitting vans for both cars and commercial vehicles, frontline rapid-response vehicles for providing emergency roadside assistance, flatbeds equipped to transport agricultural tyres and smaller vans for use in the company’s mobile fleet inspection department.
Snap-on Tools has announced a three-year sponsorship deal with Aston Martin Racing, which recently won the GT1 class at the recent Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race. The 009 Aston Martin Racing DBR9, driven by David Brabham, Antonio Garcia and Darren Turner – resplendent in its iconic Gulf livery (pictured) – took the Le Mans specialist class victory for sports cars which are based closely on their road-going equivalents. This was the second consecutive victory for Aston Martin Racing in the GT1 Class.

With governmental taxation of truckers on the rise and fuel costs for all soaring, road users are on the lookout for anything that can help reduce costs and fuel consumption. Responding to this need, Haweka of Toddington, Gloucestershire and John Bean, a brand within Snap-on Equipment – a fully-owned subsidiary of global tools firm, Snap-on Corporation – have released new wheel alignment tools and technology.
Haweka’s TA-20 laser wheel alignment system is designed for speed and ease of use, which they say “allows the operator to measure a 2-axle semi-trailer tractor’s to and thrust angles within about 10 minutes.” The system strives to achieve this feat through the use of a patented laser measuring head “placed on the rim by means of powerful magnetic feet (with additional grab arms for aluminium rims)”, which allows measurements to be taken immediately.

Wixom, Michigan-based tool manufacturer K-Tool International (KTI) has announced a number of new products, updates and promotions with the launch of their new 2008 AirAware Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPSM) Sensor and Service Pack Application Catalogue.
The catalogue, published by marketer Schrader-Bridgeport International, Inc, includes part listings and a tool and accessory section within its 44 100-per-cent-recycled pages. Among KTI’s new products are: software for TPM tools, enabling their usage on all vehicles in 2008, and for the programming interface module to support Microsoft Vista; the TPMS T-10 torque tool for the easy installation of replacement Schrader snap-in TPMS sensors; 23 new sensors covering 163 new applications; and a new TPMS quick reference kit.
