Tire Group International (TGI) is expanding its tyre marketing and distribution in Latin America and the Caribbean by opening a new sales office in the Peruvian capital, Lima. The sales office will be headed by Fredy Montoya Soriano, who has more than 35 years’ experience in the tyre and automotive industries.
Apollo Tyres reports that its south African Dunlop brand has emerged as the country’s number one tyre brand in an independent survey. The iconic brands survey, conducted by TGI South Africa and commissioned by the Afrikaans language newspaper Rapport and English language paper City Press, measured the usage of more than 8,000 brands within 19 different product categories.

Cooper Tire has joined the ranks of generous tyre companies donating money to the Haiti relief fund. The company announced today that it is pledging up to $25,000 in donations to support relief and recovery efforts in Haiti after the 12 January, 2010 earthquake, which caused catastrophic damage and tremendous loss of life. The Company will match up to $25,000 in employee donations through a special Haiti disaster-relief matching gift programme.
Yesterday (14 January 2010) Florida-based Tire Group International (TGI) announced that it will be coordinating a local food drive and contributing a portion of January and February 2010 profits to assist in the Haitian Relief Efforts. “As most of us have seen or read in the news, a devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 shook Haiti on January 12, 2010,” chief executive Antonio Gonzales wrote in a statement, adding: “TGI is proud to have worked closely with many friends in Haiti for nearly 20 years…We as a company are committed to helping in the relief and rebuilding effort.”
Tire Group International (TGI) has opened a new sales office in Houston, Texas headed by Tom Wilbur. Wilbur comes to TGI with over 12 years experience in the tyre industry, having worked for firms such as Area Wholesale Tire and Tire Dealers Warehouse.
Group International and GITI Tire USA have announced a distribution arrangement through which TGI will distribute GT Radial branded tires in South Florida. TGI will carry the full line of GT Radial tyres, including the Maxtour line, Champiro 128, Champiro 228, Champiro 328, Champiro 528, Savero H/T, Adventuro A/T II and Adventuro M/T lines. The GT Radial line up will be stocked in the company’s Miami distribution centre.
Tire Group International (TGI) has opened a new sales office in Santiago, Chile in a continuation of its marketing and distribution expansion strategy in Latin America and the Caribbean. The new office will be led by Gonzalo Miño Fourines who joins TGI with over 25 years experience in the tyre and automotive industries. Miño’s CV includes work with General Motors Chile SA, DIASA SA and Neumaticos de Chile SA.

Tire Group International (TGI) has hired a Country Manager for the sales office it opened in the Dominican Republic in March 2008. Joining TGI’s team is Ricardo Villanueva, who brings over 15 years’ experience in all segments of the tyre industry. His most recent position was VP of Sales for Serit Tires where he was an integral part of Serit’s growth in the Dominican Republic and South American markets. “Having in-country representation and under the leadership of Ricardo has already delivered significant benefits. Tire Group International (TGI) has announced the hiring of Orlando Delgado as senior vice-president of business development. Delgado re-joins TGI with “over 20 years of international market experience with emphasis on Latin America and the Caribbean.” Prior to joining TGI, he spent several years as director of logistics for a world leader in the design, manufacturing and marketing of toys and family products. According to a company statement, TGI hopes Delgado’s expertise in Latin American and Caribbean markets will allow the tyre wholesaler to reach its strategic objective of continuing to open sales offices throughout the region.
Tire Group International has today (5 January 2009) launched its new online ordering system. The launch is being described as the final step in a two-year long programme of Improvements to the company’s existing system, which have included the implementation of a fully operational warehouse management system (WMS) integrated to a new back-office ERP system.
TGI partnered with Radiant Software Solutions to tailor a complete software solution for all of its needs, allowing TGI to increase sales in 2008 by over 20 per cent without any additional employees. The technology has also helped the company become more ecologically friendly and is now virtually paperless.
Tire Group International (TGI) has taken on distribution of Mickey Thompson and Dick Cepek tyres and wheels in the South Florida market, as well as Central America, South America and the Caribbean. TGI said it would carry the full line of Mickey Thompson tyres and wheels in their Miami distribution center. Both brands are owned by Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.
