New Online Tool Helps With Hard to Find Tyres

TireHunter.com, a subsidiary of Network Tire Inc., from Chalfont, Pennsylvania in the US, has launched a free service for tyre wholesalers, retailers and consumers. According to the company, TireHunter.com helps locate those “hard to find” tyres and can do so “whether it’s one tyre or a container.” Apart from the wide-ranging scale, what’s unique about this offering is the fact that the company will arrange to ship the tyres it finds directly to the customers’ location.

Techking Takes Residence in Tennessee

Techking Tyres has established US headquarters with a new base in Chattanooga, Tennessee. At the same time, Tire Review reports that the company has hired a pair of US tyre industry veterans to lead its North American efforts. Larry Williams, most recently president of China Manufacturers Alliance, has been hired as Techking’s North American chief. Former Trelleborg Wheel Systems marketer takes on the role of director of marketing. (Tire Review)

Techking Donates to Yushu Earthquake Relief

Techking has pledged to donate US$1.00 from the sale of each OTR tyre sold during the next three months to help those affected by the Yushu earthquake on April 14. The 7.1 magnitude quake in southern China shook towns in the sparsely populated Tibetan Plateau, killing 2,220 and injuring more than 12,000 people.

Techking to Launch UHP Range

Techking reports an upcoming UHP addition to its Effiplus range of passenger car tyres. Called ‘Himmer II’, the new tyre will employ a full silica compound in order to deliver lower rolling resistance. Techking states the Himmer II’s asymmetrical tread pattern improves wet and dry grip, while the tyre’s shoulder area tread is designed in a way that controls the circulation of air between the tread blocks, thereby reducing noise.

Techking Developing Service Centre Network in 2010

Techking Tires says it intends to place a focus on tyre management systems in 2010. During an interview, company president Sheng Rongsheng said “this year, Techking is going to invest on the research of the total tyre management system. We hope the system would help our customers to manage and use their tyres more efficiently.” To help deliver tyre management solutions, during 2010 Techking is establishing six new Techking Service Centers within China and more than 20 will be built up in overseas markets.

Techking Introduces Steel Belt Reinforced Forklift Tyre Range

Techking Tires is launching its first forklift tyre range. Given the name ‘4klift’, the new product is reinforced with a steel breaker, a feature the manufacturer refers to as an innovative upgrade in this crossply dominated sector. “The design is intended to extend 30 – 70 per cent tyre life over the regular bias structure”, said Techking product director Tony Zhang. “The enhancement can make tyres stronger against punctures and more durable to tough road conditions.”

Techking Launches Upgraded Truck Tyres Range

Techking Tires reports that its latest generation truck tyres, scheduled for an April 2010 launch, will feature all-new design, features and performance. These features include, Techking reports, 15 degree ETL (Enhanced Tread Life) design, Techking ‘Force’ pattern design and a computer optimised shoulder design. These features, it adds, increase mileage and durability. Furthermore, heat release efficiency has particularly been taken into account in the new generation tyres.

Techking Gains Atlas Copco OEM Approval

Techking Tires reports that two of its tyres have been approved for OEM fitment on Atlas Copco machinery in China. Its ETSM L5S tyre in size 12.00R24 has been approved for the Atlas Copco ST2D and in size 17.5R25 for the Atlas Copco ST3.5. Both vehicles are electric loaders intended for underground use in mining and construction work.

Kumho Appoints New Nigerian Distributor

Kumho has returned to the Nigerian market following the naming of a new national distributor. Super Tyres and Motor Limited have been appointed to the role, reports Koh Bongyoon, Kumho’s international marketing manager, Africa operations. At a media briefing in Lagos, Super Tyres and Motor brand manager Aloke Sharma said the company aimed to position Kumho above competition in the premium segment.

According to Aloke, Super Tyres and Motors plans to hold at least 20 per cent market share for passenger car tyres within the first six months of Kumho tyre sales. The company is also the sole Nigerian distributor for GT Radial, Vikrant, DoubleCoin, BKT and Techking.

Techking Tires Gains ECE Approval

Techking Tires Limited has launched its ECE approved crane tyre, the 16.00R25. According to the company, the Techking 16.00R25 is the first product amongst similar Chinese crane tyres to receive the three-star ECE rating. In July, Techking plans to launch additional 14.00R24, 14.00R25, 17.5R25 and 20.5R25 sizes for mobile crane application.

“Our intended design, from day one, is to have this product be in compliance with ECE requirements. Our engineering department ran a lot of internal tests. Thanks to the above, we receive the ECE mark without any back and forth revision or redesign,” said Tony Jiang, the R&D manager, who is the team leader for the project.

“With the engineering sources and expertise we have, we try to stay always one step ahead of our competitors. We focus on only radial OTR and try to be a specialist in this category. We source the materials from the best-in-class suppliers. With our “all for rugged” design philosophy, our 16.00R25 crane tyre is competently ready for heavy load and high speed”, said Tech Wang, President of the company.
