Bilstein offers increased range of B3 spring replacements

Best known for its damper and coilover solutions, Bilstein also offers an increasingly extensive range of OEM replacements springs for many popular makes and models of car. A recent example is the spring solution for Mazda’s popular MX5 Mk2 roadster (pictured). Spring breakages are currently a common occurrence due to falling road surface quality, salt from the colder months accelerating deterioration and corrosion and so on. Bilstein says its B3 spring range has many benefits over other aftermarket alternatives. It is made in Germany to the same standards that the company demands of both its original equipment and motorsport lines.

Bilstein releases Renault Clio IV RS and RS Cup chassis upgrades

Suspension manufacturer Bilstein has released details of its damper upgrade for Renault’s latest Clio range-toppers, the RS and RS Cup. The Mk IV Clio, with its sophisticated rear suspension design and balanced chassis, will benefit from the B8 damper package, according to Bilstein, with enhanced dynamic abilities working in harmony with either the OEM springs or any quality aftermarket offerings. Bilstein’s Aston Martin, Subaru partnerships continue at Nürburgring

Following finishes in tenth in its 2013 debut appearance, and fifth last year, suspension supplier Bilstein and the Aston Martin Racing works team are to partner again at the 43rd edition of the ADAC Zurich 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (14-17 May 2015). The blue and yellow Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 will be equipped with the new Bilstein four-way MDS motorsport suspension. Bilstein will also appear with partner, Black Falcon, and the Subaru works team.

Bilstein Modular Damping System

Bilstein’s Modular Damping System (or MDS) is designed to be a comprehensive solution for all manner of competition machines. Many applications are available, in both coilovers and struts for many popular road race and cup class vehicles.

As the name suggests, the system consists of modular components, which means it can be built in a wide array of configurations to suit any competition chassis. The types of connections range from standard uniball-bearing to pin connections and through to all manner of fork alternatives. In the strut variant, the outer tube is available with a clamp or a bracket. Each unit can be dimensioned and configured to each team or builder’s precise request.

In the UK, 12% of cars are ‘on the pull’

According to research carried out for Kwik-Fit, as many as one in eight motorists claim the steering on their car pulls to one side or the other. Massachusetts deliberating over tyre aging law

US extends off-road tyre tariffs

On 6 January, six U.S. International Trade Commission commissioners unanimously voted not to revoke the antidumping and countervailing duty orders on certain off-the-road tyres produced in China. The ITC says the decision was taken to retain the orders as their repeal “would be likely to lead to a continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time.”

Hankook wins BMW SUV fitment

Hankook has won an SUV original equipment fitment deal with BMW. The tyre manufacturer will supply a newly developed SUV version of its flagship ultra high performance tyre, the Ventus S1 evo2, to the third generation X5. Hankook plans to launch the tyre, which will be manufactured mainly at its Hungarian facility, on replacement markets in spring 2014.

Jourdan joins Conti board

Since the start of August Dr. Ralf Cramer has been headquartered in Shanghai as head of Continental China. Replacing him as chairman of the Management Board for the Chassis & Safety division is Frank Jourdan, who has also joined Continental’s Executive Board. Jourdan’s appointment to the board was confirmed at Continental’s Supervisory Board meeting on 25 September, together with the renewal of Dr. Elmar Degenhart’s tenure as Executive Board chairman for a further five years.
