BKT gains Caterpillar SQEP Platinum status
Off-highway tyre specialist BKT has been approved for Caterpillar SQEP (Supplier Quality Excellence Process) recertification and elevated from Gold to Platinum level for the year 2021.

Hankook Tire describes its receipt of a General Motors Supplier of the Year award as an honour. The company is one of 122 suppliers around the world, including five tyre makers, acknowledged for exceptional performance in the 2020 calendar year.
Stellantis, the company created through the merger of Peugeot and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in January, has honoured Nexen Tire at its inaugural Supplier Awards. It awarded the tyre maker for Competitiveness, one of eight categories in this year’s event; Nexen was one of two firms recognised for “outstanding performance in terms of cost savings (commercial, process, technical solutions and logistics) and their proposals for a cost reduction portfolio in line with Stellantis’ objectives.”
Hankook Tire has been named a GM Supplier of the Year at a virtual ceremony honoring for General Motors’ 28th annual Supplier of the Year awards. GM recognised 116 of its best suppliers from 15 countries. It said these suppliers have “consistently exceeded GM’s expectations, created outstanding value or introduced innovations to the company.” The ceremony, recognising supplier contributions in the calendar year, was delayed in March by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Agricultural and construction machinery manufacturer Manitou has bestowed a Best Competitive Performer Award 2019 upon Alliance Tire Group. The tyre maker says the award recognises its “excellent cooperation and consistent performance on diverse levels from the development and testing to the procurement and service phase.”
Dayco, a leading engine products and drive systems supplier for the automotive, industrial and aftermarket industries, has been recognised for its outstanding quality, by global vehicle manufacturer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) for both its production part and Mopar unique part supply partnership. The award, which specifically refers to Dayco’s San Luis Potosi facility in Mexico, has been made as a result of its excellent performance as an FCA supplier.
Bridgestone Americas says it is honoured to be one of FCA’s Supplier of the Year awardees in the North America region. The tyre maker was one of 19 supplier partners acknowledged at the 2019 annual Supplier Conference and Award Ceremony in Detroit.
Nissan’s Russian manufacturing operation has acknowledged tyre maker Yokohama a Nissan Best Supplier Award. Igor Boitsov, general director of Nissan Manufacturing Rus LLC, presented the award to LLC Yokohama R.P.Z. at a ceremony in St. Petersburg.
With the new innovation competition, internationally operating automotive supplier, Hella is strengthening cooperation with its selected, high-performance suppliers, as well as expanding its own innovative strength. The aim of the competition “Hella Co-Innovation Platform” (HIP) is to involve particularly innovative suppliers in the early phases of product development and thus jointly advance the development of new, forward-looking technologies.

Several tyre makers have received new silverware of late, with OEM partners in the vehicle manufacturing sector handing out awards to honour their suppliers. We’ve already shared news of awards Hankook Tire received from Honda and General Motors; more recently, Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear, Maxxis and Pirelli have commented on the accolades they’ve gained.

Schaeffler has been named Supplier of the Year by Nexus Automotive International, a trading group represented in the UK by The Parts Alliance.
Five of Michelin’s best suppliers were recognised at the fourth edition of the tyre maker’s Supplier Awards, which was held yesterday at ‘Aventure Michelin’ in Clermont-Ferrand, France. The awards were presented to representatives of the winning companies by Jean-Dominique Senard, chief executive officer and managing general partner of the Michelin Group, and four members of the Group Executive Committee.
