Avon Tyres has renewed its association with Castle Combe circuit and has agreed a new contract to provide tyres to its racing school.
The tyre manufacturer has been involved with the track for 50 years making it the longest motorsport sponsorship in the world.
Following the introduction of its Choices+ programme last year, Lassa is continuing with its plans to support distributors in Western Europe by introducing a new dimension to its Lassa Choice programme. The company’s latest addition comes in the form of the recently launched “Marketing Choices.”
In Lassa’s words, Marketing Choices is designed to help distributors maximise the effect of their own marketing communications programme. Marketing Choices includes information on marketing activities including advertising, direct mail and sponsorship through to the hosting of successful sales incentive campaigns and consumer promotions.
On Saturday 16 July, BEN, the Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund will, for one night only, transform the grounds of Lynwood, its residential centre near Ascot, into a traditional fairground with a difference.
On Sunday 17th April thousands of people took to the streets of London to run the 25th Flora London Marathon. BEN, the Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund, had a team of nine industry members running to raise money for the charity. This is the largest team BEN has ever entered into the gruelling 26.2 mile race and the Fund hopes to raise around £10,000 in sponsorship thanks to the participation and hard work of the runners.
Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire, (BFNT) has signed a new sponsorship agreement with Pikes Peak International Raceway (PPIR). The Firestone brand will now serve as the official tyre of PPIR for the Indy Racing League’s Honda Indy 225 IndyCar Series race on 21 August.
“Becoming the Official Tyre at Pikes Peak International Raceway provides us a tremendous opportunity at Firestone,” said Al Speyer, executive director of motorsports, BFNT. “PPIR is in a great setting, with Pikes Peak and the Rocky Mountains as a majestic backdrop, and in the middle of a growing Colorado market where the Firestone brand is assured of receiving excellent exposure. We’re quite pleased with the agreement and look forward to building on the Firestone-PPIR relationship to make racing even more popular with area fans.”
The date for this year’s BRMA Rubber Industry Dinner has been released. It will again be held at the Hanover International Hotel, Hinckley, Leicestershire on 14 October.
This year’s event will have a ‘Vegas’ feel, which will include live cabaret, a raffle, dancing, and casino tables.
The BRMA warn that there are only a limited number of events available for sponsorship this year and encourage companies to come forward and support the event.
Dunlop will be the title sponsor of the MSA British Touring Car Championship for the next three years. As the sole tyre supplier to the BTCC for the past two seasons this latest agreement extends the relationship and reinforces the manufacturer’s brand marketing programme.
Hi-Q has appointed Nikki McCluney as its new marketing manager. She joins Birmingham-based Hi-Q from van maker LDV where she was marketing manager, responsible for retail and fleet marketing as well as the sponsorship of the LDV Vans Trophy football tournament. As part of Nikki’s role at Hi-Q, she will be responsible for all marketing initiatives covering marketing and public relations and will also lead the implementation of a new brand strategy later this year.
Goodyear will be the official press sponsor of the 75th Geneva International Auto Show, when it runs from 3 to 13 March. The manufacturer will use the sponsorship opportunity to increase recognition of the new name for its fail-safe, RunOnFlat technology. Last year Michelin was responsible for sponsoring this area of the show. Goodyear joins the likes of Eurosport, Yahoo Cars, Peugeot and Mazda, in supporting the event.
Goodyear tyres have agreed sponsorship with Ali Ross – the guru of modern British skiing. Ali has carved a unique place in the world of ski instruction. In a statement detailing the news, Goodyear described, the skier’s ideas about technique as revolutionary, adding that it is just as concentrated on its technical excellence.
Indian manufacturer JK Tyre was reportedly one of three large companies that forked out nearly £16 million in sponsorship in order to see the Jordan F1 team hire Narain Karthikeyan. In fact, “money was really not a consideration” when it comes to F1 sponsorship, the company told the AFP news agency.
Pirelli Tyres has confirmed its continued involvement with motorsport series across the British Isles. In the 2005 season the manufacturer will support the Kwik Fit Pirell British Rally Championship, The Irish Tarmac Championship and the Maranello Ferrari Challenge, to name but three.
Pirelli will continue its UK and Ireland rally involvement, the company announced at January’s Autosport/Aftermarket Show. The manufacturer will sponsor the Kwik-fit Pirelli British Rally Championship and the Pirelli Irish Tarmac Championship, the latter for the second consecutive year. More than 3000 people visited the Pirelli stand during the course of the show. The company has since describe its participation as “a great success,” adding that its Ford Focus WRC simulator was one of the main attractions.
Unipart Automotive has announced the launch of a new marketing programme, designed to reposition Unipart’s place as an aftermarket brand.
Exide Technologies is supporting the Championship of Great Britain, which is set to take place this Friday, 9 July, at Oxford Stadium.
The British speedway event will feature former world champions Mark Loram and Gary Haverlock who will be challenged by rising contenders Scott Nicholls, Lee Richardson and Joe Screen.
For Exide, the sponsorship deal re-establishes its links with the sport, as it was previously a supporter of the Coventry Bees team in the 1990s.

The company is proud to renew its special relationship with speedway and lend its support to a prestigious event,” commented Craig Everett, Exide Technnologies’ UK marketing manager.
