Set for future success – Kenda introduces automated steel wheel tech at Croatia plant

About a year ago, Kenda shared news of a 4.5-million-euro investment for its steel wheel factory in Beli Manastir, Croatia. The Kenda team tell us that this investment in automated technology and renewable energy is now complete, making the factory “perfectly poised to deliver even more responsibly produced products in higher volumes.” This augmentation will make itself known throughout the course of this year and into 2026 and deliver the added benefit of “highly improved” working conditions within the plant.

Bridgestone expands solar capabilities at China PCR tyre plant

In addition to increasing production capacity at its Wuxi passenger car tyre plant in China, Bridgestone Corporation has completed the second phase of its project to equip the Bridgestone (Wuxi) Tyre Co., Ltd. facility for generating solar power. Bridgestone has installed further rooftop panels which, since going operational in mid-November 2024, have increased the plant’s solar panel capacity to 13.029 megawatts (MW).

Solar farm aiding Maxion Wheels’ Chihuahua plant

Maxion Wheels has integrated solar power into its light vehicle aluminium wheels facility in Chihuahua, Mexico, following the launch of its own 499 kW capacity photovoltaic system that can deliver an estimated annual generation of 960 MWh. By reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 420 tonnes per year, equivalent to the annual growth of 6,930 trees, the solar farm will supply around two per cent of the plant’s annual energy needs.

Micheldever invests in solar panel installation

Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS) reports that it is making “significant strides towards its sustainability goals” with the installation of cutting-edge solar panels at its Halifax (Elland) depot. This initiative is expected to save the company up to £7.5 million over the next 25 years while also substantially reducing its carbon footprint.

Goodyear, Enovos inaugurate 4.4 MWp solar panel installation in Colmar-Berg

Goodyear has inaugurated a new large-scale solar panel installation at its Colmar-Berg proving ground. Completed in December 2023, the installation was inaugurated on 28 May in the presence of Lex Delles, Luxembourg Minister of the Economy, SME, Energy and Tourism. The solar project has a total surface area of 37,700sqm, with a capacity of 4.4 MWp. It is made up of 8,148 bifacial panels, capturing light both on the illuminated surface of the panel and on the lower surface thanks to diffuse light. It continues Goodyear’s collaboration with energy supplier Enovos.
