The new, full-electric Smart #1 is the first Smart model developed by the joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Chinese carmaker Geely. Launch photos released by Smart Europe last year let the Continental cat out of the tyre supply bag, and Continental has now confirmed worldwide supply for the SUV in 18â & 19â tyre sizes.
Smart Automobile has unveiled the #1, a full-electric five-seater with a range of up to 273 miles. Official launch photos suggest that smart will offer all four models in the #1 range â the Launch Edition, Pro+, Premium and Brabus â with Continental tyres as a standard fitment. Images issued by the media team at smart Europe GmbH depict various versions of #1 equipped with Continental EcoContact 6 Q tyres in 235/45 R19 V XL.
Daimler AG has confirmed that it is conducting an âinternal investigation regarding its certification process related to exhaust emissions in the United Statesâ. This action follows a request from the US Department of Justice (DOJ). As a result the company says it will âinvestigate possible indications of irregularities and of course take all necessary actions.â
Nexen Tire’s N’blue Premium has been selected as original equipment for the Renault ‘Twingo’ and the Smart ‘Forfour’ compact cars. According to Nexen, its tyres will be standard equipment for the two cars, which were co-developed by Renault and Daimler AG.
Allutec is to supply the new Smart Fortwo and Forfour with the 16-inch Poison alloy wheel. The wheel manufacturer describes the Poison as a âtimelessâ five-double spoke design, with racing black and front polished diamond black finishes available.
The past couple of years have witnessed a build-up of Nexen Tireâs original equipment supply portfolio with European vehicle manufacturers. At the end of 2013 the Korean tyre maker announced its Nâblue HD would be fitted to European market Volkswagen Polo models, and shortly afterwards it said the tyre would also be original equipment on the Skoda Octavia and Rapid. News of a third Nâblue HD deal, this time for the Dacia Lodgy and Dokker, was issued in June 2014. Now Nexen has announced it is working with two further car makers in Europe: Nexen Tire says its Nâblue Premium has been approved for original equipment fitment on the Smart Fortwo and Forfour and the Renault Twingo.
