As we reported yesterday, Marangoni is increasing its production capacity for Ringtreads in Europe. Marangoni Retreading Systems Deutschland has shared further details about its ongoing capacity expansion at the Henstedt-Ulzburg facility near Hamburg. With an investment amounting to a mid-single-digit million sum, it will establish a completely new, third production line at the plant, which has been producing Marangoni Ringtread treads for the past two decades.

Marangoni tested its own retreaded tyre following the procedure described in the ECE117 regulation applicable to new tyres, aware that this test did not represent a Type Approval for a retreaded tyre, but only for benchmarking purposes, the company recently affirmed.
Marangoni has completely revised its Ringtread System equipment with a range that offers retreaders the benefit of modularity. Known as Ringer, these machines draw upon the proven technology of the Ringtreader and Ringbuilder units they replace. Marangoni is currently installing the first Ringer units at customer sites in Europe.
Marangoni Group started its Franchising operations in India in mid-2018. Recently, the company established its first exclusive franchisee in North India. Manoj Tyres, an existing retreader at Kanpur, operates in one of the largest tyre markets in India in Uttar Pradesh (UP). Manoj tyres was sourcing retreading material from two leading Indian retreading companies before switching exclusively to Marangoni India. One result of the partnership is that a new greenfield facility has been commissioned with new equipment, including Marangoni’s RingTreader RT920.
On Tuesday, the Marangoni Group and Indian reclaimed rubber manufacturer GRP Ltd. entered into a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding for the sale of Marangoni’s equity shareholding in Marangoni GRP Pvt Ltd, a 50/50 joint venture established in 2015 to bring the Marangoni Ringtread system of retreading to India.
As of 24 April, the Marangoni factory in Brazil is 20 years old. Inaugurated in 2001, the plant in Minas Gerais state was instrumental in introducing the Ringtread system to markets throughout Latin America, and as such has fulfilled Marangoni’s mission of providing tyre retreaders and their customers with “a higher quality product” suited to a continent that’s home to one of the world’s largest road networks.
Marangoni Tread North America reports that an RDG 200 Ringtread Drive retread has been driven for over 500,000 miles. The RDG 200 Ringtread is a closed shoulder drive tread uses particular compounding technology for “extreme mileage”. The RDG 200’s original tread depth is 27/32nds (21.5 mm).
Marangoni has enlarged its range of pre-cure rings and treads for winter applications with a new product, the Ringtread Blackline ICE202. This 3PMSF drive tyre pattern was developed with long-haul use and “severe winter conditions” in mind, such as those encountered in Nordic countries. The ICE202 is already available in size 315/70R22.5, with 275/70R22.5 and 295/80R22.5 to follow soon.
Marangoni Retreading Systems has expanded its Ringtread business in the Benelux countries. The Italian retreading specialist has entered into a partnership with Kargro Group company Tyre Plan Europe, signing an exclusivity agreement for the use of Marangoni’s retreading technology in the region. Tyre Plan Europe BVBA was established in 1988 in Kalmthout, Belgium and until recently operated as a Bandag franchisee. The newest partner in the Ringtread business has developed into one of the region’s largest pre-cure retreaders over the years.
On 1 July 2019 Marangoni Tread North America Inc. announced that PRIDE Enterprises in Avon Park, Florida is now part of the Marangoni Ringtread network.
On 12 June 2019 a delegation of 30 bus company managers from all over Hungary attended a Marangoni Ringtread presentation hosted by Énykk at their headquarters.
Marangoni’s Ringtread retreading process doesn’t yet have a sizeable footprint within India’s large commercial vehicle sector, but it is growing. The Marangoni GRP Private Limited (MGPL) joint venture that was established in late 2015 recently took on its fourth franchise partner in India. Marangoni says it is also progressing with plans to add a further four franchise partners.
