Giti Tire has strengthened its passenger and light truck tyre division in the German-speaking, or D-A-CH region with the appointment of Thomas Wurst-Kornacker as retail network development manager and Katharina Kremer as marketing manager.

Giti Tire is currently looking for a new general manager for the DACH market – Germany, Austria and Switzerland – following the departure of Rainer Harter. The company’s managing director for Europe, Richard Lyons, told Tyres & Accessories that Harter recently “left of his own accord in order to pursue new opportunities.” Harter joined Giti Tire in summer 2013 and held the position of managing director at Giti Tire Deutschland GmbH. Lyons commented that the former Michelin manager “had done a very good job.”
Giti Tire has released product details for the two latest additions into its expanding GT Radial truck and bus portfolio – the GSW226 high traction steer axle and GTL925 low platform trailer pattern tyres.
Top ten tyre manufacturer, Giti Tire has confirmed its first GT Radial original equipment homologation fitments for the European passenger car and light truck market. Both Renault Nissan and PSA Peugeot Citroen will fit the manufacturer’s tyres on European models, with the latter’s Peugeot Partner and Citroen Berlingo models running on GT Radial in Western European markets.

Giti Tire has appointed Angelo Giannangeli it new marketing director Europe for the PCR and light truck segment. In this role, Giannangeli will be responsible for marketing initiatives and e-commerce for GT Radial, Primewell and Runway brand passenger car and light commercial vehicle tyres in Europe; the company aims to achieve a PCR segment market share of between five and ten per cent in key markets.

Giti Tire has helped an employee at Thwaites Brewery to achieve the fundraising target for his first London Marathon, following a request made to a local dealer while fitting GT Radial’s Champiro UHP1 tyres. Gary Ackerley’s request reached managing director Europe, Richard Lyons, who was happy to offer a donation towards his fund for Children with Cancer UK.
Giti Tire Europe is to debut the technology behind its Giti Assist pan-European breakdown service during April’s CV Show. Sales director Richard Lyons told Tyres & Accessories that the company will be showing its web-based fleet management system and hand-held data collection technology at the show, plus giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about the details of the pan-European service it is now offering in conjunction with Tymacon. In addition, the manufacturer will exhibit its Giti-branded nitrogren inflation system on the 54 square metre stand (Hall 8-141).
Much has changed since Tyres & Accessories first met the then fledging Giti Tire Europe team at the 2006 Essen Show. Now, more than a year later, the staff count has doubled with the addition of some high profile executives; and sales are up 30 per cent year-on-year. When Tyres & Accessories met up with Giti Tire Europe’s UK, North & East Europe, and Russia sales director, Richard Lyons; and marketing manager Europe, Peter Foulkes, news of the Giti Assist truck service programme and the company’s new Heifei factory were top of the agenda. But these expansion plans are only the beginning, and the word is that an extensive new marketing programme is underway, with a rack full of new product releases scheduled for next year.
Goodyear Dunlop Tyres UK has appointed Jason Tyers as regional sales manager for the North, as part of the overall restructuring of its commercial department. The appointment follows the recent introduction of Clive Powell as director of Goodyear Dunlop’s Commercial Department.
Goodyear in the UK is looking for a truck or bus driver who has performed an heroic or outstanding deed in the course of his or her duties. The Goodyear Big Hero award is based on the long-running US Highway Hero award, which has been running successfully in the USA for decades, and will be launched at the Truckfest trucking festival in early May, when leaflets will be handed out to the thousands of truck drivers and members of the public who attend the event. Richard Lyons, sales director Goodyear Dunlop Tyres UK, said that the award is to improve the image of truckers, who are often portrayed as the “bad guys” of the road.
