Philips’ RacingVision headlight bulb, developed by Lumileds, has been named Auto Express Headlight Bulb of the Year 2019 during the magazine’s annual product awards ceremony. Philips RacingVision has an illustrious history of winning Auto Express awards; most recently, it scooped the Best of Test accolade in 2016, Headlight Bulb of the Year 2017, Best of Test 2018 and now this year’s Headlight Bulb of the Year.
Following the recent reports that drivers are confused by daytime running lights (DRL’s) and what the legal requirement is for them being fitted to vehicles, Philips, inventor of the Daylight Xenon HID daytime running lights sheds some light.
Philips X-tremeVision headlights produce “up to 130 per cent brighter light, without compromising on the lifetime,” the company states. With up to 450 hours, the product boasts a significantly longer lifetime for the high performance light category.
Why change in pairs? An old lamp deteriorates fast, and if one bulb fails the second will probably fail shortly after. It’s a smarter, more convenient and more economic approach to maintenance, two new lamps are brighter so you see further and get a balanced view of the road.
