S&H Tyres was present at Reifen for the sixth time in 2016, with a large section of the stand designed to present the new V-Netik private label. V-Netik offers an extensive range of consumer and commercial tyre fitments.
Z Tyre set a new Guinness World Record for the most expensive set of car tyres ever sold, with the diamond and gold studded model, manufactured by Sentury Tyre, fetching $600,000 from a private buyer. Now the brand has confirmed that the profits from the sale will be donated to the Zenises Foundation.
With the intention of increasing commercial fleets’ trust in retreaded tyres, Bridgestone has introduced ‘The Bandag Contract of Trust’. The guarantee aims to reassure fleets that Bandag retreads are a safe and reliable alternative to a new set of tyres, as well as a solution for reducing fleets’ tyre related costs per kilometre, Bridgestone states. The proposition applies also to retreads made from Bridgestone and Firestone tyre casings. Their retreadability by Bandag is also guaranteed.
Pirelli has launched its new tyre line for commercial vehicles, the R:01 Triathlon, at Reifen 2016. Designed as third generation products, the tyres provide performance characteristics not only to replace the existing R:01 II, but also to overlap the winter W:01 and long-haul H:01 ranges. While the new tyres are “not designed to replace” Pirelli’s specialist models, the manufacturer’s CEO Europe, Renato Zilli told Tyrepress that the R:01 Triathlon range represents its recognition of users’ “variable needs” and the evolution of European goods transportation; in 2010 the ratio between regional, long-haul and winter applications was 76:20:4, while in 2015 this has changed to 81:15:4. Commercial tyres featuring all-round performance are naturally attractive to dealers as an aftermarket solution, but European fleets also require adaptability between the more popular regional applications and long-haul routes, taking in different climates.

The Reifen 2016 Innovation Awards winners have been announced as part of the trade fair’s opening celebrations. Giti has launched a new strategic initiative for its commercial tyre business at Reifen 2016, which will see the manufacturer replace its GT Radial branded truck and bus products in Europe by the end of 2017. The manufacturer’s European representatives told Tyrepress that a mixture of new products – led by the Giti GDR655 regional drive axle and Giti GAM851 mixed-service steer and trailer tyres, both of which have been launched at Reifen – and relabeled existing products would make up the Giti CV tyre range, commencing immediately. The GT Assist network would be moved to Giti branding “at the appropriate time”, UK managing director Brian McDermott told Tyrepress. Meanwhile Giti will continue to market new GT Radial passenger car tyres with the “A Product of Giti” badge on the sidewall, first seen on the UHP flagship GT Radial SportActive tyre, representatives told Tyrepress. There are currently “no plans to replace the GT Radial brand” in consumer focused products, they added.
Sailun states that it has boosted sales growth and market share “in many European countries” since the introduction of its new car and truck tyre distribution strategy in 2011. The cornerstones of this strategy, which the manufacturer describes as “relatively simple” with “several key interlocking components”, including the full range of Sailun car, truck and bus, summer, winter, and all-season tyres will be demonstrated on the Sailun stand at Reifen 2016: Hall 7, stand 7D20.
Maxam Tire International will exhibit its latest OTR, agricultural, industrial and construction product lines from its large stand in Hall 7 (7E19). While this positioning echoes the brand’s positioning two years ago at the last Essen event, much has since changed, with its head office moving to Birmingham and Sailun Europe head Martin West taking over as managing director. Maxam has also appointed new managers, who will attend the show.
Federal Tyres will exhibit its latest e-marked UHP and studless winter tyres at Reifen 2016. Federal’s range will include the Evoluzion ST-1, 595 RS-Pro, and Evoluzion F60 summer high and ultra-high performance tyres; the Himalaya Kattura for mild winter road conditions; the Ecovan ER02, which demonstrates durability for the commercial market; and the Glacier GC01 for winter conditions. The Taiwanese manufacturer will exhibit from stand 3C27 in Hall 3, between 24 and 27 May.
Avex Steel Products will present its latest innovations on stand 2A40 in Reifen 2016’s Hall 2 next week.
Cooper Tire Europe will host brand ambassador and Formula One grand prix winner, David Coulthard on its stand (3A14) in Reifen’s Hall 3 from 24-27 May. Coulthard will sign autographs on Tuesday 24 May.
Dubai based distributor Zafco will thrust its house Zeetex brand into the limelight at Reifen 2016, displaying its latest car tyre ranges from Hall 3, 3B28. “We believe that [Reifen presents] a great opportunity for our existing and potential customers to select from our extensive product offerings,” the company stated.
Dutch garage equipment manufacturer Winntec will showcase a series of new additions to its growing product portfolio from its booth (Hall 1, B19) at Reifen 2016. The Winntec Y412500 2.5 ton aluminium floor jack combines a futuristic design with Winntec’s Turbo Lifter pumping technology. Its latest jack, the Winntec Y420330, features a compact yet fully functional design, while an upgrade to Winntec’s Wheel Assist will increase the range’s functionality, the company states.
Singapore based tyre supplier Firenza will exhibit its full range of car and truck tyres, as well as its Stamford Sport Wheels (SSW) from Thailand. Firenza’s European market targeted ST-05A ultra-high performance tyre will lead the way in the car segment, alongside a multi-application SUV range (AT-186, HT-183 and ST-185), and the SV053 van and light truck tyre. Firenza’s truck products, including the SSR05A steer, SSM07 all position, and super-single range, will also be on the stand.
