We can expect at least one world premiere from Kumho Tire at Reifen this year. In addition to showing off its current car, SUV, van and truck portfolio, South Korean tyre maker’s more than 300 square metre presence (Hall 3, Stand A40) will include a brand-new winter UHP tyre, the Wintercraft WP 71. According to Kumho, the tyre is aimed large and luxury cars (D and F-segment vehicles) and offers improved braking characteristics over the predecessor tyre – Kumho claims a 14 per cent shorter distance on wet road surfaces.
Vipal Rubber aims to “make its mark” during Reifen 2016 with the display of some of its most recent treads. For example, the company is showing its VRT3 and DV-UM3, emphasising the “exclusive design” that has reportedly earned clients in locations all over the world.
Maxxis has launched its first runflat tyre for the European market, the M36+. The new product will be unveiled at Reifen 2016 in Essen, Germany next month, and Maxxis states the new line “will affirm its commitment to continuous innovation for mid-range buyers.”

The company has long been referred to as B&J Rocket, and now it is adding the Rocket name to its newly-modernised logo.
Singapore-based brand Firenza will be exhibiting at Reifen 2016, showcasing its car, UHP, 4×4, winter, light commercial and truck tyres. At the same time a powerful and stunning display of Stamford Sport Wheels (SSW) from Thailand will also be showcased during the event.
SD-International (SDI) has announced plans to showcase its Pace, Toledo and Zeta private label ranges – which cover the car radial and truck and bus sectors – at this year’s Reifen show in Essen.
At the same SDI will be showcasing new AT and MT 4×4 tyre ranges, which will be available in both the Pace and Zeta variants, while the firm’s multilingual sales team will be revealing advance details of its new Zeta car tyre and SUV tyre ranges. Company representatives report that these have been specially produced for the American and ASEAN markets. Manufacturing of the new lines is set to commence in June of this year.
The Davanti brand is celebrating its first anniversary at Reifen 2016 in Essen in May. Following displays at shows including the Performance Car Show and Tyrexpo Africa, Davanti visits Essen with what is described as a “growing global following”. Launched at Autopromotec 2015 in Bologna, UK-based Davanti has seen impressive growth across multiple continents and is seeking to attract the crowds in Germany as its launches a new range of winter car, van and SUV tyres.
In a move that Messe Essen has described as “trailblazing”, yet may be interpreted by some as a back down in the face of new competitor trade show The Tire Cologne, from 2018 onward the Reifen exhibition will no longer be held in its traditional mid-year time slot or in the German city of Essen. Instead of going head-to-head with The Tire Cologne in the week of 29 May to 1 June 2018, Reifen has been rescheduled to take place alongside Automechanika in Frankfurt from 11 to 15 September.
Two years ago Just Easy Tools – a Danish manufacturer and inventor of tyre manipulators and wheel service Equipment – introduced a special three-point gripping mechanism for safe and effective tyre handling during Reifen 2014. 2016 has already seen the launch of the T-Pro1 in January, which together with the T-Pro2, launched in Autumn 2015, boasts combined coverage of over 95 per cent of direct-TPMS enabled vehicles, covering vehicle groups such as BMW, Nissan, Land Rover, Jaguar and Subaru, as well as numerous others not currently found in other aftermarket sensors.
Hamaton has booked a 108 square metre stand for the Essen show, where the TPMS firms plans to exhibit “a complete range” of its sensors and valves including its new OE-R sensors. Hamaton will be in hall 1, at stand 1C15. Reifen 2016 takes place from 24 to 27 May at Messe Essen in Germany.
OBO Tyres has marked the fifth anniversary of its retreading brand, Ecotrac, with discounts available on sever Ecotrac models. The manufacturer says its Ecotrac rubber compound, for retreading earthmover, agricultural and transport tyres, was the result of “years of market research,” which have made it “strong, durable and safe”. OBO said it is “proud” of the results, adding that “service and customer satisfaction is of paramount importance.”
Interstate Tire & Rubber has expanded the Sierra truck and bus radial range in Europe with the launch of two further tread patterns, the Sierra SR526 and Sierra SR805. The TBR programme now contains nine different patterns and a total of more than 60 sizes.
